Copied from my Facebook account - I really don't like to do this.. I love supporting local indie businesses and I'm so pleased Acomb is getting more now. That being said, I really feel the need to say to my friends with little ones to avoid THE GREENGROCER CAFE ACOMB! I have just been with the intention of having lunch with 2 friends, one of which had a pushchair (I did too and had folded it down before going in and tucked it away in the corner), I had suggested there because in the past the food has been lovely (the service has in my experience always been questionable!). We could not have been made to feel any less welcome!!! We had comments about not being able to put the pushchair here and there, due to it being in the way of other customers (due to arrive 1 hour from then!), to which we politely moved it several times..and general eye rolls and comments aimed at us daring to take a pushchair in there.. although feeling irritated, we decided to still order drinks and look at the food menu because a friend had already ordered her food. Another woman then walked in with a stroller and the server said loudly "oh god,not another one!!!" Needless to say we finished our drinks and made a swift exit. I have never felt more on edge and uncomfortable in a place before. The same friend and I go to RUBY'S down the road, almost every week, and they are nothing but accommodating to us, despite being half the size of the Greengrocers!
As I said, I don't like to business bash on here as I know it's a difficult time for them, but I would hate any of my friends to feel the anxiety and discomfort...
Read moreA great find and ideal for breakfast (and I’m sure for other meals) with indoor and covered outdoor seating. The food was very tasty and extremely well presented. Service was quick, smiley and welcoming. There are several vegetarian options. The cafe is very popular but they will reserve tables on a telephone call, as there were reserved tables when we arrived. ♿️ Acceas to tables for people with limited abilities, but the small toilet and washroom is through the counter area and down a tight corridor and is not at all accessible. We would happily go again at a different time of day to experience the other foods that they offer as well as the delightful breakfast...
Read moreI never normally write reviews but I feel compelled to after such a wonderful visit. The coffee and cake are absolutely 5 stars, not just a slice of cake but pots of fresh strawberries and cream and crumbled biscuits - it was a real treat. However where I wish I could give many more stars was the offer of carvery trimmings for our pup which ended up being such a generous pot! She was delighted. We will definitely be back to sample the Sunday roast as we were a bit jealous! Thank you so much for...
