Carlton Tavern — Restaurant in England

It looked really nice outside when me and my 2 daughter's walked up. When we got in it was quiet customer wise. We ordered our food, the girl on the till was stressed and was very blunt. There was only her and the chef on. Food was ready when I was ordering and the girl asked if the chef could take it out but he refused which made her more stressed. We waited 35 minutes for our food, five minutes longer and we were going to leave. The food came. The girl who served me brought it out but she looked miserable and she didn't even say sorry for the wait. My oldest daughters chicken burger was alright but the salad in it was warm which means it either was left under the hot lamps for ages or the food was reheated. On my youngest daughter's Yorkshire stack you could tell it was reheated. My steak was well done even tho I asked for medium rare. It was an aweful meal. But by this time we were so hungry we just ate what we could. The atmosphere wasn't nice other customers were being loud and swearing. I will never come back here in a million years even if you paid me. The worst family meal experience I have ever had. If you want a drink with mates come here but families beware. What a...

Empty place but got told off for just sitting down. 5 ladies out for lunch. We had to order food at the bar and pay then. Small menu and the first 2 things my friend ordered were not available. I asked for a cheese sandwich and was told it's seeded bread only. Two ladies ordered fish and chips. We waited for far too long considering there were no other customers. When the food did come the fish looked like it had been in a house fire. Burnt outside and in. Most of it was inedible. When the waitress came to clear the plates she said was everything OK. When told the fish was burnt she went and told the chef who said "sorry" ! The waitress did offer something else but we wanted to get home the same day. The other friend ordered hunters chicken. I serve my grandson bigger and nicer food than what was served. No mention of a refund for the dreadful fish. The chap behind the bar obviously didn't want us there, and he's got his wish. We...

Went to order some food the barman was outside having a smoke and no one else was around. When a guy turned up who I presume was the manager I tried to order a rump salad with crispy onions as on the menu for £9.75, the barman re appeared and both men didn’t know what I was talking about. The barman was told to settle someone’s bill whilst the older guy (manager)? disappeared leaving me at the bar. After a couple of minutes I decided to leave it and eat later in the day elsewhere. I stayed and finished my Pepsi. The place could be beautiful if looked after but instead is dirty and unkept. I did look online for a letting room that they’re meant to have 4 of but couldn’t even find a phone number to enquire if they had any vacancies. Such a shame as it could be so...
