UPDATE 22-09-2024
Went again for my wife’s birthday and it took just over 35 minutes for the food to arrive which is acceptable when it’s this good. I ordered a GRAND SLAM for £30 and I nearly fainted when I saw how much food they brought out. A 8oz steak and half a chicken and a rack of ribs!!!! My daughter’s Nacho Cowabonga was similarly generous. Overall a brilliant night with excellent food so I’m adding a 5th star. I have to apologise because I forgot to tip the waitress in all the excitement. Next time I go I will rectify that. *
Booked table on Saturday night for 7:15. had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Had our drinks then ordered our food at 7:50 but our food didnt arrive until 8:45. Thats a 55 minute wait! The food was pricey in some areas. My Reef and Beef cost £39. If you are going to charge £39 for a steak with prawns then you need to make sure its pretty perfect. And it was. It was an really good meal with chips, really nice peas with I think bits of bacon in. And I was full afterwards. My wifes meal was basically a hunters chicken which she absolutely loved and that was about £22 and so was my daughters Chimmychunga. I think Dannys burger was only £14 and again everyone was stuffed. Theres so much on the menu that I will go back and try different meals. Even though the Reef and Beef was excellent, it was still pricey. The drinks were slightly more expensive, than other pubs/restaurants in the area, by about 50p.. Ive knocked a star off for the 50minute wait for food and knocked another star off for the prices but added an extra star because the food was faultless. No-one had any complaints about their meal and the service from the staff was great. So will definately go back again. I dont mind paying good money for good food so...
Read moreNice place for a group outing with friends or family. We booked a table for 8 for a meal out with friends. The restaurant is not disabled friendly as access is up a short flight of 6-8 stairs. There is a further set of stairs to the toilets. The menu is an interesting variety of bbq, Mexican and seafood with a whole page of vegetarian options. There is something for everyone even our picky teenagers. Seating is a mixture of booths and tables with a bright decor. However the acoustics are really bad. There was music playing that wasn't loud and it wasn't particularly busy but the combination was such that it was difficult to hold a conversation with anyone who was not immediately adjacent to you. It was also difficult for the staff to hear your order. The staff were nice and helpful. We were shown straight to our table and our drinks order quickly taken and brought to us. Our food order was taken promptly too. We waited 45 -50 minutes for the food to arrive which is about my tolerance limit. It was worth the wait as the food was delicious. (I have a slight pet hate of food served on items other than plates/crockery. The burgers all came on wooden platters with a steak knife stabbed through to hold them together, a side of coleslaw and pickled cucumber and the fries in little chip baskets) The steak knife was useful though to attack the overhang from my burger contents to get it down to a manageable size. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes too. There was a slight issue with our desserts due to some of our group not wanting fruit or cream on their waffles which unfortunately took 3 attempts to resolve. But overall we enjoyed our visit. I wouldn't recommend Aloha for an intimate dinner for 2 but for a celebration or a meal out with...
Read moreWent here tonight for 4pm (opening time) I had the Maryland chicken which is 6 large seasoned chicken strips (tenders if you're American) coleslaw, a large onion ring side salad and thick onion gravy
Chicken... Moist chicken, seasoned just right, think along the lines of KFC boneless strips, but not quite the same flavour and higher quality. Coleslaw... Best I've had it was creamy and slightly sweet, lovely. Onion gravy... Taste sensation, meaty, oniony and tangy and sweet, not sweet like loads of sugar sweet, but we think it might have Worcester sauce in it to make it that way, could be wrong of course. Spicy wedges, these were disappointing in that they weren't really spicy, tasted lovely still and were cooked perfectly.
I won't comment on the side salad as everyone knows what salad leaves taste like.
Other people in my group had the mexi burger, which was, and I quote, very very good and the other person demolished the Texan burger they had, I can't comment on them personally but even though the burgers were cooked well done they were deffo thick and extremely juicy
Overall my score 8.45 out of 10 superb.
Oh I forgot the price, we got an early bird offer so it did knock £8 off the overall bill which ended up being £45 for the food and 2 pints of soft drink and pints of two beer, even without the £8 off that would have been well worth it! :UPDATE: 28TH April 2025 We actually came here again tonight and it's still top notch food, see the pictures of the grand canyon burger and halloumi fries side I got,...
