I am new to town as a free lance chef and I like to try spots out always once atleast.
I came today for a table of two and was very disappointed by the quality of the food everything tasted exactly the same was no flavour to any of the food the prawn toast was just burnt over fried bits of bread .
The spring rolls didn’t taste anything like duck spring rolls just slime and veg was very weird.
The chow mein was very bland and the sauce tasted just like flavourless gravy base and the prawns was like rubber pellets..
So was veryyy disappointed with the food in general and 80% of it was left. I physically couldn’t eat it. I was also shocked because 4 plates of food was made and brought out to the table in less than 8 minutes which was concerning.
The beer I had smelled weird and tasted awful I had to order a coke with it to wash down the beer because it was simply disgusting and tasted and looked as if the lines havnt been cleaned in a very long time over all for the food and drinks I wasn’t satisfied what so ever .
Not all down and bad though the staff was loverly and friendly and was very welcoming and polite to talk to which is a shame really because the chef really let them down in my eyes I am how ever a believer in trying a place more than once so I will return and try some other dishes and a different drink. Just this time I have to be honest and just say it was probably the worst Chinese I have ever tasted I’m sorry to be that person but that’s how I felt I do hope my next time...
Read moreWe have eaten here many times over the past 20 years and more. We have always had great tasting, well prepared food. We have been to many Chinese restaurants and although this is not necessarily the best we have been to, it is much better than a lot of others in the quality and taste of the food. The service varies depending on who is on shift. In the last couple of years an older man (owner?) has often been there, and he is extremely miserable, not very welcoming. On the other hand the woman is always pleasant and remembers us each time we go in. Takeaway trade seems to have increased greatly, lowering the ambience of the place. Less people eat in the restaurant these days. Its only been decorated and had a new carpet once in all these years. The decor could be better, with a more modern feel. However, the tables are spotless with their damask tablecloths changed between customers. Not somewhere we would go every week, but a place to go occasionally and especially when family...
Read moreWhat can I say? I should have read the reviews. I only wanted a small take out as wasn't really hungry. However, very frosty reception, one guy had his back turned on me while I'm in there ordering. Because I wasn't ordering a big meal? I don't know but I woke up the next day with very painful stomach ache. I tried to make myself sick but obviously too late for that. I only had steak fillet in black bean sauce. It wasn't particularly nice and small portion. I never usually have a Chinese takeaway, but thought I'd treat myself. To be honest, I will never have Chinese takeaway again, ever! I understand if business is slow and to be far, walking in there was so quiet, it was like a western with tumbleweed floating by, But, for every one customer you treat like that, you lose 50. Plesse understand, reviews make...
