Well where do I start, the first word that comes to mind is DISAPPOINTED.... We came here because the restaurant we originally wanted to go to was shut. The staff were initially really friendly and attentive however things went quickly downhill when things we ordered were changed without asking us beforehand...
Starter: Garlic bread to share, that was the only thing that we were all happy with, no complaints.
Mains: So one of us ordered a Spaghetti Meatballs and to my utter disbelief it arrived with the following statement from the waitress 'Oh, I know you didnt order this with Pene but the chef said that it tastes much better'. I have never in my life seen a chef change someones order without even asking, to then serve it to us with that explanation !
Pizza Diavola: This was ordered with extra cheese and FRESH chillies. The pizza arrived looking a bit burnt and clearly without any of the extra's we asked for, so we mentioned this to the waitress who went to ask the chef, she then came back to tell us there was fresh chillies under the pizza but there was 0 chillies under or on top. The young waitress then proceeded to open the Chili oil bottle from another table and removed some chillies from there to put in a small bowl under the false pretence they were the 'fresh' chillies we asked for. We couldn't believe our eyes, for somewhere with such a high rating I never ever expected this.
The other pizza we ordered was very average and the pasta I had was definitely the best of a bad bunch.
I think the staff could clearly see they messed up our whole experience as they never once came to ask how the food was or anything.
We asked for the bill and to our utter shock they tried to charge us for the 'fresh' chillies they removed from a bottle of chili oil.... I went straight up to mention it and the more senior waitress (who was lovely) instantly agreed to remove it from the bill however the younger waitress was muttering trying to argue that they were fresh chillies not knowing that we SAW her take them from the bottle.
I don't know if we came on a bad evening but I struggle to understand their behaviour and their complete lack of remorse for their actions. They didn't even offer an apology or discount.
Im sorry to say I don't think we will ever return to this restaurant.
Don't change people's orders without asking, don't lie about having ingredients you don't have and then charge for it when you pull them from a bottle. We paid around £20 each and to be honest we would have had a better experience buying a frozen pizza and watching a...
Read moreHands down the most authentic and tasty Italian food to be found anywhere in Brighton and Hove !! Having had the good fortune (and the very occasional misfortune ) of eating in numerous Italian establishments around the area over the last ten years, my partner and I were literally blown away by the the exquisite dishes on offer here. The menu is varied enough to suit most palettes, but not so exhaustive as to confuse or hinder the most appropriate choices ... An astounding and pleasantly surprising aspect of eating here is the way the flavours just keep developing on the palate as you work your way through the gastronomic pleasures - each successive dish just somehow incredulously surpasses the last, leaving you thinking 'How the hell is this decadent little eatery tucked away on the backwater of Blatchington Road and not so much better known' ? And then there's 'Guiseppe' ... Waiter extraordinaire !! This bubbly and helpful soul truly knows his stuff when it comes to 'proper' Italian nosh and will always help guide you to the most suitable choice - his assured manner and professional efficiency instantly puts you at ease and induces trust from the off ! The only question that remains for us is this : Why on God's green earth did we wait so long to get in on the Amici vibe ? Well, looks like we'll be making up for a lot of lost time over this coming year ... Ultimately, who needs tonsy Mitchellin starred restaurants, when we have Amici right on our doorstep 🤗 Go treat yourself to a little ( or big ) slice of Italy...

Went on a Sunday evening and it was quiet, but the weather wasn't great and worth noting that a good number of delivery orders went through whilst I was there.
To the main event though - the pizzas! Man, were these pizzas good! Proper pizza oven stuff and as good as I've had in Italy. Had an Amici (Tomato, mozzarella, Italian sausage, spicy salami, peppers, spinach) and a Capriciciossa (Tomato, mozzarella, mushroom, artichokes, olives, salami, basil) and they were both delicious.
I don't want to seem like a shill, but it really was some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. I chatted with the owner a little afterwards and he was a really lovely guy - I just want to see him succeed, because he clearly knows what makes a good pizza. Bonus limoncello at the end too - I always...
