Stopped off for a [semi-late] lunch, and picked one of the several empty tables; we were asked what we'd like to order before we had sat down, let alone seen a menu - had to go and get one [of three different A4 menus] from the counter..
Drinks were brought over fairly promptly, and we ordered the food...frittata and a lamb burger, though with the feta cheese swapped for cheddar/burger cheese..
Around forty minutes later, and my [diabetic] girlfriend is now getting the start of a hypo, and asks the waitress how long before the food will be served and for a glass of juice....the juice and food came over a minute or two later..
The frittata was greasy, though the chorizo in it was very nice, and the lamb burger was still a deep pink in the middle (probably shouldn't have eaten it all, but I was hungry and didn't want to have to wait for it to be refired...later regretted that from a small room) and the "chips" were more slivers of potatoes that were fried and a little on the greasy side, but I thought they were nice enough, even if not the steakhouse that was indicated..
When asked how the food was (and having had plenty of time to read TripAdvisor reviews and the scathing responses to any suboptimal opinions) my girlfriend commented about the wait for the food..
Owner insisted that it hadn't been 45 minutes and said that the delay was due to the rush of tables that had ordered...there were only about 3 other tables, two of which were leaving or had left by the time our food came out, though they were all there before us..
Little tip for the owner, but had we known it'd be ¾ of an hour, instead of being left hanging, we could've asked for something to have while waiting..
He did take the cost of the drinks off the bill [though there was a £2 charge, presumably for swapping feta for normal cheese] but still argued that it wasn't 45 minutes..
Am expecting there to be some snarky response, so to quantify, I was a genuine customer, I have no financial interest in other cafés, and am not getting anything in return for...

Cafe Quench is my go-to spot to work, study, socialize, etc. Amazing food and a great vibe, it's nice and quiet, with just the right amount of liveliness that gives it the sort of vibe you'd see from cafes/pubs in TV shows like Friends or How I met your Mother. I often spend hours here getting my work done, meeting friends, etc.
The owner Soltires is nice Greek guy, very friendly, and makes a real effort to get to know his customers. The personalization has kept me coming back. The man has memorized all of my favorites and often knows what I'm looking for before I even open the menu. He even goes out of his way to have a chat with me about how everything's going personally.
Very accomodating for all diets. For all my veggies out there I recommend the Chili non carne. It's perfectly seasoned and feels closer to a home made dish than a cafe dish. I also recommend the iced mocha which, in actuality, is an ice blended...
Read morePopped into this cafe by chance with a friend, around 2pm on a Saturday. The owner was so friendly and lovely, the atmosphere was calm and clean, and the food was not only reasonably priced but fantastic! So so delicious :) I had the granary toast with egg and avocado salsa, pictured. My friend said that her hot chocolate was the best she ever had. Highly highly recommend this place!
Edit: Update as of 21/12/19 This place just gets better every time! The owner remembers me and my friend, even gave us green tea on the house :) Everything we've eaten there has been stunningly presented and flavoured. I've added a photo of my Sunday roast I had - 5 star quality, honestly!! Thank you again to the lovely man who owns this place...
