I recently Cafe Elka on a weekday, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the beautiful interior décor, which created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were equally welcoming, with friendly smiles and prompt service that set the tone for a pleasant visit.
I ordered a latte and French toast, and I was impressed by how quickly they arrivedâboth within 10 minutes. When the French toast was placed before me, I was truly amazed by its presentation. It was almost too beautiful to eat! The dish was adorned with fresh, sweet strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, all of excellent quality. The caramelised banana was a delightful surprise, with a thin layer of burnt sugar that added a tasty crunch.
The French toast itself was perfectly cooked with subtle hints of cinnamon, which elevated the flavor without overpowering it. The sides were just as impressive, with creamy mascarpone, rich dulce de leche, and even the most beautiful edible flowers that added an extra touch of elegance to the dish.
To top it off, the latte was smooth and served hot, complementing the meal perfectly.
All in all, I had a lovely experience at this café and can't wait to return and explore more of their menu. Thank you so much for a...
Read moreWe've been to Elka a few times and until today had enjoyed it and thought it a welcome addition to blatchington road. On prior occasions the manager/owner was there which may have something to do with it. We went as a family of 4, with 2 young children, and had to wait an hour to be served food, which is way too long for a cafe. We chased it up a couple of times and during this time only two other tables were served, which suggests there weren't enough people working in the kitchen. The kids had the pancakes, which when ordering, the staff had offered to split into two plates, which didn't happen. My husband and I had the shakshuka but it was served with only one v small piece of toast, which definitely wasn't enough for the amount of shakshuka (and at the price of £12). We asked for another portion of toast which never came. When we queried it the person working just said 'i did ask for it' but clearly hadn't chased it up, or gone and made it herself. It doesn't take a chef to make a piece of toast! Overall a v disappointing experience. We spent over £50 on 3 brunch dishes, waited over an hour for the food, and then were ignored when we requested an extra piece of toast. Sadly we won't be...
Read moreI wasnât really going to leave a review but the shakshuka I ordered a couple weeks ago really left a mark. Not in a good way. The girls were nice and welcoming however when I went to order a shakshuka (incredibly hard to mess up) it arrived and it left absolutely everything to be desired. The feta was the only nice part about it. The sausage I payed a significant amount extra for was lazy and pretty flavourless. The shakshuka wasâŠ. Just heated TINNED chopped tomatoes with the odd pepper in it. UNSEASONED. You could literally taste the flavour of just a raw tin of chopped tomatoes. so expensive aswell I took one bite and immediately I was so disappointed and really struggled to finish it in front of my wide eyed boyfriend who has payed and taken me out for a treat. I canât believe that for this price Iâm being served tinned chopped tomatoes in a fancy pan. Itâs literally just laziness, whoever is in charge of the menu and dishes needs to be given a talking to. It was so disappointing and even though it was so long ago it genuinely has left a mark on me as food is something to be taken pride in and perfected over time. Not trying to be a Karen but I just thought...
