CafĂŠ Amore, Kettering: A Turkish Holiday You Can Eat (No Passport Required) đšđˇâď¸đ´
You know when you walk into a place and it immediately feels like youâve made the best decision of your entire week? Thatâs exactly what happened when we pulled up a chair at CafĂŠ Amore in Kettering. Within about thirty seconds, it was less âSaturday brunch in Northamptonshireâ and more âsunny long lunch by the Aegean, with a suspiciously good tan.â
The Arrival: Sunshine on a Plate
Before we could even think about being polite and saying âOh no, you order first,â the first wave of dishes arrivedâand they just kept coming. We were greeted with a platter that looked like a love letter to Mediterranean food: ⢠Hummus smoother than a Barry White song, just begging for a hunk of bread to dive into it ⢠Tzatziki so fresh you could practically hear cucumbers applauding from the kitchen ⢠Tangy olives, spicy tapenade, and flatbreads still warm enough to fog your sunglasses
And then came the real heavy hitters: ⢠Crisp golden falafel (honestly, youâd need self-restraint of steel not to eat them all immediately) ⢠Kibbeh, those glorious parcels of seasoned meat and bulgur wheat, so good we almost started negotiating over who got the last one ⢠Fried prawns, crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy insideâa dish we would have happily fought each other for if there werenât so much else coming
And we havenât even got to the grilled meats yetâchargrilled chicken, lamb, kofte and vegetables, all smoky, juicy, and singing with spices. The plate didnât just feed usâit silenced us (and if you know our table, youâll know thatâs saying something).
The Atmosphere: Come Hungry, Leave Family
CafĂŠ Amore is the definition of relaxed, friendly charm. You donât get rushed. You donât get pretense. You get good, honest food, cooked with love, served by people who actually seem delighted that youâre there.
The staff made us feel like long-lost friends returning from a journey, and at one point, we half expected someone to offer us a deck chair and a view of the sea. Itâs that warm. The dĂŠcor is unfussy but lovelyâbecause who needs fussy when the food is doing all the showing off?
The Experience: A Full-Body Holiday Mood
By the time we were tucking into the last of the breads, scooping up every precious scrap of sauce, and drinking our Turkish coffees like seasoned travellers, we were well and truly transported.
This wasnât just lunchâit was a proper mini break. One bite of hummus. One sip of coffee. One big, satisfied sigh. Repeat until you can barely move.
The Verdict: A Five-Star Feast With Bonus Sunshine ââââââď¸
CafĂŠ Amore is a treasure. Itâs a big-hearted, belly-filling, joy-spreading kind of place, where the food hugs you from the inside and the staff greet you like family.
If you love Turkish food, if you love great hospitality, if you love leaving a restaurant happier (and heavier) than when you walked inâyou owe it to yourself to visit.
Five starsâplus a bonus star for every time we said âthis is amazingâ through a mouthful of food. Weâll be back. With bigger appetites. And...
Read moreWe were looking for somewhere to go for a drink and a light snack. I remembered this cafe from a few years ago bit hadn't realised it had new owners. A very charming waitress seated us and was very attentive. We ordered a drink while we looked at the menu. I had a vegetarian sausage roll, and my friend ordered an omelette. The food was freshly cooked, so there was a bit of a wait, but the waiting was worth it as the food was very tasty. Yes, even the vegetarian sausage, which, believe it or not people can still cook wrong. The food is very reasonably priced, and the menu has good choices. After we paid, I was tempted by their selection of cakes, so I ordered one to take away. I chose their Apple Cider Cheesecake, which has got to be one of the tastiest cakes I have had. Lovely, soft and creamy with loads of taste. The owner said he does all the cooking himself and was very proud of this. Next time you are in Kettering, check this cafe out. Go past the butchers and turn right on the corner by the travel agents. It is located just down there on the right. I hope you like it as...
Read moreNever again! 3rd time this man has charged me wrong and if people think back carefully Iâm Sure Iâm not the only one this has happened too! He brings out food you havenât ordered then charges you for it, today he charged me for my breakfast which I added halloumi when I paid I wondered why it was so expensive and when I confronted him he said heâd charged me for his lunch menu starter (halloumi salad) if that was the case it should of been brought out as a starter and not just a few pieces scattered over my breakfast and charge me for 2 separate meals! Absolutely rattled by this manâs behaviour, think people should wise up to his fraudulent activity , i will just rely on karma to get this manâs comeuppance as I highly doubt i will get my money back.. but I wonât stop letting people know how bad this place is for ripping you off! I would have paid ÂŁ30 ÂŁ40 ÂŁ50 for my meal, itâs not even about that, itâs the slyness and the conning ways that comes with him, Maybe if your cooking skills were as good as your ripping people off skills, you might...
