Esquires Coffee Kettering — Restaurant in England

Hadn't been to Kettering in years, as we walked through the centre we saw this place and thought we'd treat ourselves to a coffee. Gave our order and took a seat, after what seemed quite a long time we got the first drink and then the two others followed a a couple of minutes later. But no sugar on the table or at the serving area. My wife asked the bloke at the counter and he pointed to a station in the seating area, we looked and no sugar. Went back to the counter and asked a second time, explaining there was none at the station/Island thing, and he said well if there's none there we don't have any. "Sorry you must have sugar for customers to use in their hot drinks surely?" No he says, people keep stealing it, if there's none out there we don't have any. By this time I'm getting a bit irritated, and said well if you don't have any sugar for my coffee, I'll have a refund. The woman who appeared to be in charge then came out and found the single bowl of sugar for the whole seating area on someone else's table. Plonked it down in front of me and said, "he wasn't to know was he, (does he need an optician maybe) can you return it over there when you're done with it my love" in a sarcastic tone. Well if someone who works there doesn't know if sugar is available, and tells you it's not, then theres not a lot of hope is there. Nearly 12 quid for 3 drinks, have to argue my case to get some sugar and made to feel like I was being unreasonable expecting it to be available. No thanks. Its a shame as the seating area isn't too bad and the coffee, apart from the double espresso being a bit cool by the time we got some sugar was decent quality. Ruined what was meant to be a nice treat for us and cost nearly 12 quid for the privilege. If i could give you minus 5 for customer service I would. Not recommended based on...

Second and last visit. Ordered a lemonade amongst other items of food beverages .

The lemonade glass was half full off ice ,which I did not ask for nor was I asked if I wanted. THIS IS A BIG NO NO TO ME. It shows they are only trying to effectively steal money from you. MORE ICE LESS PRODUCT. One or two pieces is enough the rest is just plain robbery... Reminiscent of dodgy deals in restraunt and pubs. The prices are not cheap and not clearly marked. We visited the cafe today with plans to have lunch ,we stood in front of the counter and waited whilst one lady prepared food and the other was emptying the dishwasher and putting away the mugs. We waited for one of them to to acknowledge us "I will be with you in a minute " or something similar however we stood there for number of minutes both staff looked at us and knew we was waiting to order, we left feeling very disappointed with the attitude of the staff ,clearly stacking mugs was more important than welcoming...
