A most terrible experience, one that seems to have happened before.
I went with my Chinese wife (I mention her nationality for a reason which will become apparent later) for a lunchtime meal whilst visiting Kettering. The menu was a little misleading regarding meal offers. You need to look closely at the print. We went to the bar to order our food and the manager took our order. The price seemed a bit high and we asked for confirmation and we had misunderstood the offer available. We made a slight change to the order and there appeared to be little change in the price to reflect the change. On checking the receipt additional cheese slices had been added to the burgers which were not requested and cup of tea which we were originally advised would be included in the offer was charged for. My wife asked for a refund of those items, but was met with complete indifference from the manager. She is very persistent in her nature and eventually got a refund. Later I went to get a refill of hot water for my mother-in-law and was told by the manager that he would under no circumstances provide one due to the attitude of my wife. I was astounded by his response.
To make matters worse, we were stopped by a friend of the manager at the bar on our way out, who accused my wife of being excessively rude to the manager. She was not rude in any way, but stood her ground and did not wish to be charged for items which were not ordered. The man then accused her of being an illegal immigrant and said he would call the police. He took pictures of her on his mobile phone. I explained he would be wasting his time reporting her as she has been a British citizen for the last 10 years. It seemed to make no difference to him and he continued on with more...

Again we witnessed his bad attitude in the garden where two ladies had bought a dog in...out he marched rude and sarcastic,..apparently there are signs "everywhere"..stating no dogs,we purposely looked on way out and couldn't see one anywhere!....he then sent the chef out to tell them to drink up and use the back gate when they leave. We would of happily spent another hour in the lovely garden in the sun but didn't feel we wanted to after our experience with him..in future when visiting I will be sticking to the Earl of Dalkeith where the staff were far more...
