The Apollo Pub is a cozy and welcoming establishment located in the heart of Hull. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The pub has a traditional look and feel, with wooden furnishings and an open fireplace that adds to the charm.
The menu at the Apollo Pub offers a good selection of classic pub grub, including burgers, sandwiches, and fish and chips. The portions are generous, and the food is tasty and well-prepared. The pub also has a good selection of drinks, including a range of local and international beers, spirits, and wines.
What really stands out about the Apollo Pub, though, is the service. The staff are attentive, friendly, and always willing to help. Whether you're looking for recommendations on food or drink, or just want to have a chat, the staff are always happy to oblige.
In addition to the excellent service, the Apollo Pub also has a great atmosphere. Read moreI have been here a few times now with my parents for a lunchtime meal and it has always been good. My mum gets the scampi and chips and my dad gets the mixed grill. They're always happy with their food. I get a vegan meal which is the vegan nacho sharer. The reason I get the sharer as a main meal is because the other vegan options don't personally appeal to me. There is a curry available which sounds ok but it's a very mild kind of curry whereas I'm more into something more hot. This is something most restaurants and supermarkets do for some reason and I'm not sure why, but the veggie/vegan curry option (singular, sadly) is pretty much always just a super mild, almost fruity sauce while the sauces on the meat options are varied and much nicer. To be fair they do some pretty nice looking vegan 'chicken' strips here with a good mayo sauce. The nacho sharer is fantastic, very filling and at a very decent price. The chocolate praline tart is lovely. It's much appreciated when a restaurant does a good dessert when you're vegan. So many others just do a token crumble or sorbet to tick the vegan box, but this one has an actual chocolate dessert that tastes amazing. The staff are really nice and helpful, particularly Jayne who has been super helpful and really...
Read morePrices don't meet quality. We paid £16 a head here, but could have spent £20 a head elsewhere for much better food quality and table service.
Bar staff were lovely, but the server was bizarre. I had to follow her back to the kitchen door to get cutlery and condiments, but there wasn't any salt, which I asked her about. She turned around without saying anything and walked away. I eventually found some on another table, only for her to be shouting me back, waving a salt pot at me and looking dumbfounded.
I ordered a southern fried burger which came without any sauce as they had ran out. It was bland and tasteless.
My son ordered a mixed grill with medium steak that came well done and leathery. The steak also smelled like it was on the edge of being on its use by date and tasted disgusting.
My wife had a hunters chicken which came almost dry of any sauce. Most of the sauce that was there also tasted like tomato with soy to colour it, not barbeque.
We had two flat white coffees that tasted like hot milk.
Overall, it was a very disappointing experience in a sequence of them, which is why we hadn't been back in so long, but even the previous ones were better...
