Avoid for take out.
This used to be a decent Asian take out place, the food was good, the portions generous to the point of being a risk for metabolic disorders, and the staff cheerful.
But the take out food has changed.
My last, in ever sense of the word unless I hear that the kitchen staff have changed included:
Prawn Crackers cooked in oil so old it was all one could taste. Straight in the bin, inedible.
A green Thai Curry with pork, so greasy, sour, unpleasant to taste, and grey in colour so that one of my favourite Thai dishes was also inedible. In the bin.
A steamed rice, well cooked, sticky like I like, it was the only thing I ate, apart from Won Ton Soup.
This is what I started with, Won Ton Soup, and it was great. Really good.
But with my wife's dishes I spent almost £25.
She ate her soup and nothing else, either.
So we ended up paying £25 for a dish of steamed rice and two small bowls of soup. The rest was thrown away.
I would not have written this review if this was an isolated experience. Sadly compared to a couple of years ago the food has gone way down hill, and I can only recommend that you avoid eating here because the last time I tried the food here about six months ago the experience was almost as bad.
I should say this has only been for take out food, it may be eating in is...
Read moreAsian Bowls is a hidden gem that you're unlikely to stumble across walking up the main street of Saltash. Even if you do find it, a peep through the windows may put you off. It's neither a posh or a trendy, street-style restaurant. It looks more like a well-kept cafe. The first impressions really don't do it justice as the food and service are excellent.
After being shown to a table and ordering drinks, the menu takes some studying. There are a lot of dishes to choose between. There are the familiar dishes you would find on a Chinese menu along with Thai and Mongolian specialities. The waiter was very helpful in offering advise based on what I was looking for and explaining that they could cook the food to suit my tastes. Throughout the meal, the staff chatted with us in a very friendly manner without crossing the boundary into being invasive. I got the impression they really cared about the food they served and our enjoyment of it.
I'll certainly be returning to Asian Bowls and also trying out their takeaway menu. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the lack of identity. It's neither a place for a special occasion or a busy street restaurant. It simply serves good food at a very...
Read moreI recently ordered a takeaway meal for my family for my birthday after hearing good things abut Asian Bowls. I was not disappointed, The food was excellent and really good quality and an authentic taste. All of this was at a reasonable price. We all commented how lovely the meal was. We tried a range of dishes from the street food menu through to curry and rice dishes also including a range of side dishes. All were great. My wife and I enjoyed the meal so much we have since gone back again later in the week with friends as we were so impressed. Our friends also commented last night how lovely the food was and also saying that it was the best takeaway food they had tried and also mentioning the freshness and quality of the dished they tried also. I cannot rate the Asian bowls highly enough and look forward.to trying out more of the menu. If you want great tasting food that is fresh and great quality, served and cooked by polite customer focused people with a real passion for what they do, you must...
