Well, where to start......
I do love the back story of the name, and it was probably the first thing I noticed when looking for somewhere to eat.
This restaurant specialises in American and Mexican dishes that are all made in house. From burger buns and tortillas to ketchup. The restaurant is clean and tidy with a small mini bar at the front. The website warns that they don't take bookings, but when it's busy will take your number, then text you when your table is free. You can wait at the bar, or even leave. But don't be tempted to eat somewhere else, it's not worth it!
The staff are friendly, and attentive with food orders cooked fresh for you.
So, to the bit you really want.
Cons (first, because everyone just normally skips to this bit):
*Soda (Coke) seemed a bit flat. *Proper chips are nice, but were a bit salty. Would have preferred triple cooked chunky. *Food does take a bit of time to come. This isn't a problem, as it all arrives cooked and tasty. But I did notice a larger table getting impatient. *Parking, with the restaurant on the main Street in saltash, you have to use a pay and display. But it's located very nearby.
Pros: *Fresh home made meals. *Friendly staff *Good décor *Damn good food..I mean it's really good.
Would we go again? Yes. I'm full writing this now, and still thinking about the Queso dip. I want more of it. Like right now.
Well done guys and girls, we was looking for a Mexican restaurant to win us over, and your it. We will be back!
Edit: It's been a few months now. And I'm still thinking about that Queso dip
Updated review October 2024.
Just went back here...... When I wake up from the food coma in the next few days I might leave a more detailed review.
But short and sweet, queso dip is still very good. Chicken wings in hot sauce made my face tingle and I loved every mouth fall. The chimichanga was a bit greasy from its cooking. The enchiladas are just brilliant. The Mucky fries are yummy, but I wish the chilli con carne was a bit spicier.
I weighted myself leaving the house and I am lying here trying not to die with 2.25kg of food in my stomach. It hurts, and I have mexican flavour burps.
My only regret is I got gym in the morning, and it might kill me.
2025 update: After I just finished digesting the last meal, I went back for seconds....... I asked for the enchiladas to be made extra spicy. They were great. But I have been training at the gym for the last 2 years, and this place will...
Read moreTHIS REVIEW IS FOR BANDITS NOT FOREIGN MUCK-
Went for lunch at foreign muck’s sister establishment ‘Bandits’ this afternoon, arrived at around 12:45 and for starters was not helped or acknowledged with finding a seat for my 7 people party, 3 being children under 10. When finally noticed by staff and starting to order a long while after seating we were told that there was a lot missing off the menu but not only were we told this on multiple Separate occasions but an hour after originally ordering, the waitress came back to tell us they were ‘completely out’ of one of their sandwiches that someone in my party had ordered. This lead to an even longer wait time on food coming up to about 2 hours after ordering in the first place.
The waitress staff was extremely poor and unsanitary, two girls in particular one blonde I saw with fingers in her mouth and scratching her head and not even washing her hands before handling food or the till, one girl in a hoodie, brown hair tied up in a bun with a pen in her hair I saw scratching her bare back, hair, face and even seeing her fingers in her mouth and then continue to handle plates and other appliances. I even heard this same member of staffs rude interaction with two elderly women sat next to me. The women simply asked how long until their food will be ready to which she replied “don’t know don’t ask me”
The food was ok but underwhelming for an average of £9 for a grilled cheese by itself and the salads were also quite sad. Cutlery was still partially dirty as well. The staff clearly had no idea what their positions were and there was only really one young girl with short brown hair that seemed to be waiting on the tables as best as she could. Other staff members behind the counter chatting while I could visibly see people waiting to either order, pay or be seated. Saw multiple people walk in and wait to be acknowledged and leave.
Only thing semi decent about this place was the coffee but even so they looked prepared...
Read moreFirstly, I wanted this to be 4.5 stars, but you can only have 4 or 5.
So, brilliant atmosphere, the design of the seating arrangements is genius, it's VERY casual and you can sit next to and opposite complete strangers, or in booths, we opted for the first seats available at the centre table with everyone else, and I have to say, it enhanced the experience, chatted to 'regulars', got recommendations on food and drink, great
Food wise, can't really fault it, lovely BIG portions, we had a starter each and to be honest, I could have eaten that and gone home, but we shared the plate and tried each others food. Mac and cheese balls, OMG, they're so good.
And this is were it falls down, but, and I must stress this, it wouldn't stop me going back, by the time we had our starters and drinks, the place was packed, we waited a long time before our mains order was taken, and then even longer for it too arrive.
However, when it did arrived the food was absolutely gorgeous, again, massive portions, only one of our party finished our mains (there are take home boxes, which the staff sort out for you).
Overall, brilliant place, food superb, atmosphere amazing, the only thing I found is that you have to chase service during busy periods.
I would definitely go back, but I live 300 miles away and I'm only stopping over in Plymouth for a couple of...
