I rarely write reviews, but this experience at Ateesh absolutely warrants one — especially after all the hype I'd heard. I booked a table for 8 people online through the Ateesh website for my wife’s birthday. Family was visiting, we were all dressed up and looking forward to a great evening. They even took my card details during the reservation process, so I thought everything was locked in. We arrived — and that’s when the disaster started. The girl at the front desk looked confused and told us there was no reservation. No apology, no attempt to help. Then another man came over and I explained the situation — that it was a birthday booking, that I used their website, and gave my card details. Instead of trying to resolve it politely, he got confrontational, smirked, and said: “Show me the reservation then, go on.” When I explained that I hadn’t received a confirmation email, his reply? “So you didn’t reserve.” Completely dismissive, rude, and bordering on arrogant. At that point I said we’d just go next door to Mambos instead, because frankly, I didn’t like the attitude. Only then did he suddenly decide to “find a table.” We were eventually seated, but the terrible service continued. No one came to take our order until we called someone over After drinks, we were again left waiting far too long to place our food order Food took ages to arrive No one checked in once throughout the meal Not a single “is everything okay?” — it felt personal, like the staff were intentionally ruining our night I had heard great things about Ateesh, but what we got was all smoke and mirrors. The service was disgraceful, the staff were hostile, and the entire experience was an embarrassment — especially for a birthday celebration. Truthfully, I can get better Persian food in Newcastle’s West End for half the price and with ten times the respect. Ateesh is all hype, no hospitality. You couldn’t pay me to return — and I’ll be making sure everyone I know...
Read moreAteesh Restaurant in Newcastle is an absolute gem! I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.
First things first, let's talk about the food. The menu offers a delightful mix of Indian cuisine, and every dish I tried was bursting with flavor. The butter chicken, in particular, was a standout - creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced. The naan bread was soft and fluffy, the biryani was fragrant and delicious, and the samosas were crispy parcels of delight. Whether you're a fan of spicy dishes or prefer milder options, Ateesh has something for everyone.
What sets Ateesh apart, though, is not just the food but the overall dining experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel like a valued guest. They're more than willing to help you navigate the menu if you're not familiar with Indian cuisine, and they're happy to recommend dishes based on your preferences.
The restaurant's ambiance is another highlight. It strikes the perfect balance between being cozy and upscale, making it suitable for both casual outings and special occasions. Whether you're dining with friends, family, or that special someone, Ateesh provides the right setting for a memorable meal.
In terms of pricing, Ateesh offers good value for the quality of food and service you receive. While it's not the cheapest place in town, it's certainly worth the occasional splurge for a dining experience that leaves you satisfied and smiling.
To sum it up, Ateesh Restaurant is a must-visit in Newcastle for anyone who appreciates delicious Indian cuisine in a welcoming environment. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian food or trying it for the first time, Ateesh will leave you with a lasting impression and a...
Read moreSecond time visiting Ateesh. I enjoyed the experience more so this time. We went for lunch and the atmosphere was really pleasant, we received great service and the food was delicious! Last time, I went for dinner and it was super busy so a little less enjoyable but still left a great impression as I wanted to go back.
Steak was cooked and seasoned well (to medium rare). Some tougher parts but overall, really nice especially with the generous amount of peppercorn sauce! Yum! Definitely order the triple cooked chips - soooo good!
Prawns were cooked to perfection but would have loved the pepper sauce to be richer.
Mocktails were delicious and definitely something I’d order again. Halal wine was nice especially as it was refreshing accompaniment with the steak but not something I’d get again or drink alone.
Desserts were lush. Sticky toffee pudding was sweet, moist and delicious.
Baklava was crisp and not too sweet and had more of savoury note and served with pistachio ice cream - is a nice dessert for dessert lovers who prefer not too sweet desserts!
Overall, second experience was great! I’d go again! Fully halal. Full review will be on my instagram page: @halaltynefoodie.
Tip: don’t park at the Waitrose Car Park ( this car park has an 1 and half hour limit so if you’re longer, you’ll...
