Visited with a group of friends. Friendly upon entering and very nice interior. Ordered the garlic bread for starter, so cheesy and flavoursome and quite good for sharing while the wait for mains. Food took an average time to come out. I ordered the steak surf and turf. It did not disappoint a VERY large portion and steak cooked to perfection! The sauce was one of the nicest I’ve had but I felt the fries were just unnecessary (but delicious.) Others on the table ordered salmon, pizza etc it looked lovely and a standard size pizza. For dessert I opted for the sticky toffee pudding, again delicious lots of sauce on the pudding which I always prefer too, this restaurant is definitely not stingy on portion sizes and there’s something for everybody’s taste buds. Nobody on the table drank alcoholic drinks but I did get a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri which I don’t think is stated in the menu but they are more than happy to make. Service was attentive coming round plenty of times asking how we were. 100% my favourite restaurant in ncl BUT be aware parking is NOT good. You get 2 hours in the Waitrose car park but our 3 course experience lasted just over. There is also some street parking but may mean a short walk.

Staying over in Ponteland prior to an early morning flight out of Newcastle, this restaurant was recommended by our hosts. We didn’t have a reservation but luckily it wasn’t too busy and we were squeezed in. We ordered starters and mains - the starters alone were enough to fill us up and then came the mains! By the time we had finished we were bursting at the seams. The food was delicious and well cooked. Staff were friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Will definitely be back next time we fly.

Really hard review to do ‘*’s for. Food AWESOME! Service really friendly BUT TOTALLY disorganized. The service team was young and enthusiastic but they had no leadership or direction. This restaurant could be TOP CLASS but unless the owners take note and ensure that the operation is well run then I would worry about its long term success. Really hoping that they take heed of this review. The team deserve it.

Shocking restaurant food and service!!!! I have been ignored by the establishment about my complaint. Would check trip advisor for honest reviews.

I ordered my food for 7pm, and was told it would be ready 20 minutes late. At 20 past 7, I went to collect only to be told it still wasn’t ready, and had to wait a further 50 minutes, an hour and 10 in total from the collection time. Including travel times, it took 2 hours to get food which I would much rather spend with my partner.

After finally arriving home, we checked the order, we had been giving a sticky toffee pudding instead of profiteroles with no mention of the change prior.

Following this the 1 small slice of bread in the chorizo vino starter was black on one side and soft and untoasted on the other.

The pizza crust was black on one side and had a large chunk of crust missing, the lobster pasta was shocking for the £16 price tag. The pasta was not fresh, and it was bland I had to add my own seasoning. The lobster, which should of been the main part of the dish was left to the side. It was extremely over cooked, rubbery and stringy, like no lobster I have ever eaten.

Finally the sticky toffee pudding, which we didn’t even order had no toffee sauce on it at all, not even a custard to go with it. The replacement cheesecake which we were given after being told there was none of the New York vanilla, even though we ordered around 1 am the of the 14th to ensure our order would be noted and prepared for at the start of the day. It was awful, the base was soggy and the cheese cake filling was a horrible crumbley texture.

Overall I am appalled at the service and food of this establishment. My partner asked to pre order earlier in the week and was told it would be fine to order on the day, it clearly was not fine. Additionally, I was waiting with 12 other people in a small area during a national lockdown, there should NOT of been that many people allowed in there. If you knew the food was going to be late ring the customers and tell them when they should set off, so they don’t waste their evening waiting and putting themselves at risk...

The restaurant looks lovely and the food overall was very nice but the service and attitude of one member of staff impacts on the overall experience. We booked a table for 4 for my husbands 60th birthday and our wedding anniversary celebration. My husband has been very poorly and this is the first time he has been well enough to go out for a proper meal for some time. My daughter has food allergies and I notified the restaurant of this both at the time of booking and when we arrived. I explained she could not have nuts or dairy and felt our waiter (who I think is the manager) was quite rude when taking our order. My daughter asked for just a plain piece of grilled salmon, a house salad and sweet potato fries. Her salmon was subsequently served on a bed of vegetables which included green beans and peas. She is also allergic to peas and admittedly I should have told them this, however, we were specific with our order and dont know why they felt it appropriate to serve it differently. We sent it back and the host became quite grumpy and shouted at me that i should have told them about the peas, I explained that we ordered just Salmon, house salad and fries, hence there shouldn't be peas. He then asked if it would be okay to just take the salmon off the peas and serve it, i explained no, this is not acceptable due to the close cross contamination. He ruined the meal experience for my daughter, it is difficult when eating out with food allergies but given this was a special meal, i did not want to make a fuss. Overall the rest of the staff were very nice but our host needs to review his customer service. I would not return and would not recommend, not because of the food but because of the attitude of the member of staff who served us. Shame really as this could be a...

I have been here many times over the years and it’s always been one of my favourite restaurants, unfortunately it is no longer which is a big disappointment, this is the 1st I have been since it has changed (assuming under new management) and it is not what it used to be. The 1st issue was booking which I called to do and they took down a lot more details than they use to including my email which I thought was to send some booking confirmation but I received nothing, so I called again on the day just to confirm and was told they did not have a booking for me and they did not have the time I had booked for but had 1 hour later so we went later but when we arrived and gave the name they still said they had no booking even though we had literally called a few hours before but there was a table available. The 2nd issue not enough staff, although the guy we had serving us was nice and attentive he was rushed off his feet as was the only other waiter they had serving, what I assume was the manager was behind the bar making the drinks as there was no dedicated bar staff and nobody at the door to greet and sit anyone arriving. 3rd issue and probably the biggest is the menu change, not only have they completely changed the items on the menu with a worse cheaper selection which is lower quality but also the menu design is awful, the previous mambo’s menu was far better design spread across multiple pages with a nice design, the new menu looks very cheap and everything is crammed together on 2 pages making it not easy to read. When the food arrived it looked ok but taste and quality wise it was very bland and average, I would much rather pay a bit more for better quality food like it used to be with a better selection of dishes and so I regretfully won’t...
