Balula's Delicatessen — Restaurant in England

We came here in lockdown as their deli selection and takeaway coffee was amazing. We were so excited to come and sit in the cafe once the restrictions eased. However, we had a terrible experience. Don’t get me wrong, the products are lovely, but the service was very aggressive. The teenage girl working there was very sweet. The male owner, however, was very aggressive. We were working on laptops and had ordered drinks and food. After we had finished, he came to take the empties and asked if we wanted anything else. We said we wanted a second to decide. He then came over and said we needed to order more or get out. We’re also pretty sure he turned off the WiFi in an effort to get us to leave. I’d understand if the cafe was busy and we were preventing someone from sitting but it was empty. Too uncomfortable to come back! I have been wanting to write this review for a while. This isn't my first time visiting. I would call this place my regular. I come here for meetings and coffee. I do have to say whatever the coffee here, it is truly fresh and good. The pastry selection is on levels not replicated in Swindon. The quintessential Cinnamon Bun is sooooo naughty but so good. The food is also very tasty. The sandwiches are all served in a memorable way that it becomes a whole experience, which makes you come back for more. They just started breakfast recently and that scrambled eggs and salmon. Oh gosh! Let me know when you have tried it!

Still in shock at the aggressive nature of the owner and the way he made me and girlfriend feel during our recent trip here. He completely lost his head when my girlfriend was eating something that wasn’t purchased in his cafe. We had already purchased two coffees (bang average) and instead of politely asking her to not eat it in his cafe he proceeded with an aggressive tirade of verbal abuse. It got so aggressive and he made us feel so threatened that we had no choice but to leave before finishing our coffee. As we walked out he completely switched trying to be nice telling us to finish the coffee and offered us a refund. Too little too late we didn’t accept the refund. Keep your money in your pocket this small business owner is a poor reflection and doesn’t deserve...
