Bartella's Coffee House — Restaurant in England

It was a real shame to see that when the government regulations were eased with regards to c** this cafe chose to ignore them. I eat and drink out regularly and 99.9% of the establishments that I visit have made a conscious effort to ensure things are as close to 'normal' as can be whilst taking safety measure seriously. This cafe is an exception with the whole area being covered in plastic screening creating an uncomfortable and very unsociable atmosphere. Safety is important, common sense and the customer experience is also important. This cafe needs to address the balance!!!

I RECENTLY ATTENDED THIS CAFE WITH SOME FRIENDS ON ARRIVAL I WAS HORRIFIED TO DISCOVER WHAT CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS A SURGICAL THEATER RE-ENACTMENT. THE PLACE WAS COVERED WITH PLASTIC AS THOUGH THEY WERE ABOUT TO PERFORM A MESSY OPERATION. UNLESS I’M VERY MUCH MISTAKEN: I THOUGHT THE APPEAL TO DINING OUT WAS TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING A LITTLE SPECIAL, FEEL COMFORTABLE AND ENJOY THE OCCASION. THE LADY THAT GREETED US WAS UNFRIENDLY AND HER DEMEANOR WAS COLD. I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME ESTABLISHMENTS MIGHT LIKE TO APPLY A DEGREE OF SAFETY MEASURES BUT THIS IS OFF THE SCALE. OUR GROUP DULY LEFT (WITHOUT ORDERING) THE PREMISES WITH AN ENORMOUS LEVEL OF DISAPPOINTMENT. This place has friendly staff and great table service, they are always smiling and happy to help :)

As far as the coffee goes its good!... but not the best. Having said that there is really nothing to complain about with it.

This place is no greasy spoon! The food is good quality and well prepared, but possibly a little small in portion or slightly over-priced. Personally I'd like to see a couple more value options for someone on a strict diet.

All in all, this place is higher quality than your average cafe and definitely a good choice if your in the area. My only note for improvement and parting comment - would like to see more of a cosier and comfortable seating arrangement inside and less of the cafe style seating which takes up 90%...
