Opium Restaurant — Restaurant in Great Britain

What I thought would be a great evening of celebrating graduating with my group of friends, turned out to be quite the opposite… I have to say, the interior of the place is 10/10, you will definitely not be dissapointed with the visuals, however the food and customer service does not meet to the same standard. We were sat in the restaurant for almost 4 hours, understandable with it being a busy saturday but waiting over an hour for 6 meals was quite literally taking the mick, not only that but after our long awaited meal did they turn up with the wrong dishes. One having no sauce, and wrong chips, including one portion with a HAIR in and one completely wrong meal, leading to an extra wait time for the correct one to arrive. The steaks were asked to be medium-rare actually turned out to be well done, making it very chewy and almost inedible. The male waiters were quite rude, lacking clear customer service skills as they were totally unapologetic of the situation, after receiving the wrong drink, we were rudely told “keep it on the table” even though we hadn’t ordered that specific drink and did not want to be mistakenly charged. Spoke to the manager, who tried her best to resolve the issue and keep us happy which we appreciate. However, we definitely would not reccomend nor come here for an occasion again. We had also requested a cake we brought to be put in the fridge, and told it would be a £10 fee. After being fed up of delays we had to wait another half an hour for them to just take the cake out the fridge and bring it to our table, as we constantly had to remind 3-4 waiters/waitresses to bring it out for us. Please don't be fooled by the lovely interior. Opium Northampton: AVOID AT ALL COSTS

From the moment we walked in, it was clear this was going to be a dining experience to forget – for all the wrong reasons. The service was atrocious; staff seemed uninterested and more focused on their everything else, other than attending to customers. We waited an eternity to be given our drinks, and even longer for our orders to be taken.

When the food finally arrived, it was a complete letdown. The dishes were poorly presented and tasted even worse. It was clear that little care or attention had been given to the preparation. Each dish seemed like a culinary disaster. The steak was meant to be medium rare. It was like chewing on a rock. The food had no salt, and absolute letdown. We had brang a cake and requested for it to be in the fridge - £10 for storage. And for the cake to come back out took almost an hour. There was a hair in truffle fries. Absolutely disgraceful for the prices they're charging. This was a £200 bill. Even more, which lessened because of our drinks and the amount of time it took to take out the chicken parmesan.

Overall, Opium Northampton was a massive disappointment. The combination of terrible service and disgusting food made for an experience I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Save your money and your taste buds – go...

The restaurant is gorgeous and very ‘Instagramable’ however lacks organisation and the food was average.

The service was very slow (we arrived at 7:30 and finished our main courses after 22:00 due to how long the food took to arrive). When the dishes finally arrived, my friend (who’d ordered a fillet steak, medium well) received a sirloin that was well done and when this was addressed to our waiter he insisted that it was a fillet multiple times.

Once the manager was called over she confirmed that it was not and adjusted the price on our bill as the sirloin was cheaper.

My other friend ordered a burger, which arrived with nothing except the patty and the bun and once again, when this was mentioned to the waiter he said that’s how the burger is served, but once the manager came over she confirmed that it was missing lettuce and some extras and brought these over on a side plate.

When the staff were attending us, they were lovely, however they rarely approached the table without being called for and it was often hard to get their attention.

Otherwise, the atmosphere on a Friday night was good and felt very positive, but I think the venue would be best for cocktails and a catch up, rather than a dinner...
