Burnham on Sea is an interesting place to review. Unfortunately it suffers the same problem as Weston Super Mare in that the beach is not very "people friendly" due the mud and sinking sand. You only get about 2 hours either of the tide being in to actually go in the water before the red flags come out and the life guards warn you away from the waters edge. If you're looking for a nice beach and not fussed about the water then its nice - it has a nice long promenade that kids can cycle down. It's walled too so no risk of them going in the road. Theres a couple of cafes and chippy's, plenty of amusements and entertainment for little ones. I personally wouldnt choose to holiday there but as we only live 20 minutes away its a nice afternoon out with the kids.

My 5yr old and I popped in for lunch. I ordered the fish and chips, my son the kids cheeseburger and chips. Now my son will eat absolutely anything, but after a few mouthfuls, he asked to swap and when I took one bite of the burger I understood why. Frankly, it was awful and swimming in grease. The fish however, was fine, thankfully otherwise we both would have left hungry. The food is not cheap, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more. And to charge 10p for a small packet of cheap ketchup? Nah. Not for us, won't be back.

Worst cooked breakfast i have ever had! Terrible experience, from the moment i arrived, when i was told not to sit down at the table as it is Not waitress service & to order at the counter, i then ordered from a woman who coldly took my order, then snatched my money, whilst a different girl filled my coffee mug with no enthusiasm, put scummy milk in it, when i wanted it black, & pushed it towards me, i was then given a number, so i took a seat.

I felt so uncomfortable, as my Husband recommended this place to me, the coffee was tepid & tasted stale, but when my breakfast was put in front of me, it looked revolting, the egg looked hours old, there was no yolk to it & the white was like foam, the bacon almost raw, the beans cold, the sausage swimming in grease, the fried bread was the only thing that looked edible.

I couldn't see no cutlery or sauces, i saw the chef fly out of the kitchen, who looked so angry, but when the 1st original lady passed me by, i asked, BIG MISTAKE, she just started ranting on at me that she is not a waitress, the sauces are at the counter to purchase, so i should of done this as i must of known what i wanted, and the cutlery is over by the counter, and that it is not her fault that i couldn't see them, then she stormed off, how do i know where anything is, or what to do, i have never been there before, i am on holiday!

In that time the girl who served my coffee sat down opposite me with her bacon sandwich and mug of tea, i thought that the seating at the windows would of been for customers only?

Needless to say, i left my breakfast, went back to our Haven caravan, so upset, and still hungry & in need of a coffee, absolute waste of money, & should of stayed on site,...

I went there with my family for having drinks but unfortunately had an awful day because of the disrespectful behaviour! We ordered 2 milkshakes and we were shocked when they served our milkshakes because it was milk mixed with sorup only! When I took the drinks (milks) back and very politely explained it to the manager about it OMG she was realldy to argue with me! She requested me to pay £10 more (£5 for each drink) for adding some ice-cream into it basically she said pay that for a proper milkshake although I already paid for my drinks. Anyway when I refuse to pay more and requested a refund because we could not even try the milk drinks they made, the manager just argued with me instead of finding a solution or refunding my money! Other staff members were polite but the manager was behaving disgusting and very unprofessional!! Dear manager if you have personal problems then you shouldn't do that job because someone with an extremely aggressive behaviour shouldn't really communicate with people!! Please get help ASAP you...

There are a fair few cafes in Burnham, and of the four that I've tried, this one is without a doubt the worst. Even on a not so busy day, the service was slow and the food, when it arrived was substandard, compared with all the other places nearby. I had fish and chips. The fish was frozen, oven cooked similar to what you can buy in the supermarket, as were the chips. When it arrived, the fish was hot, having clearly just come out of the oven, but the chips were cold and undercooked, having come out of the oven too soon, and some time previously. Looking around, the staff appear to be mostly very young, low paid - possibly school or college students. Might keep the wages low and the profits high, but unless this place starts to focus on the food too, then it will continually lose out to the competition...
