I decided to visit this fish & chip shop as I was staying locally but what a mistake, as firstly I ordered haddock & chips from the lady at the counter who seemed a little put out when I asked if I could wait inside until my food was ready, she was advising people to go back to their cars to wait for some reason plus one lady was sitting on the seating outside & must of been freezing.
I sat on one of the stools feeling very uncomfortable with several people coming in & now joining me to wait, I then noticed that the young lady who was boxing up the meals seemed quite abrupt when serving people their food, then when mine was ready she shouted haddock and chips & just left it on the counter half open to get on with somebody else's, very rude when they weren't even that busy.
I got back to my car but when I opened the lid my fish was pretty busted up, It would be bad enough if it was due to the contents being too full, but she had no excuse, I started to eat it whilst it was fresh but all I could taste was a very greasy batter, the haddock was tasteless, very thin & the skin rubbery like jelly, it just fell apart by not being cooked correctly, on my 2nd mouthful I had 2 bones in my mouth & there were several more after that, the chips I really couldn't eat as they were rock hard, chewy & mostly bits that just tasted of pure fat, you could tell just looking at the colour of them that they were holding oil, not full blown potato chips that I was expecting for the price paid, I wish now I had of asked for salt & vinegar, although nothing could give this meal the kiss of life & even the seagull that was sitting next to my car didn't seem interested in eating them either, which says it all really!!

Read moreThis is my favourite chippy in the area, I come from a small village between Bridgwater and Street just off the A39. I happily travel to Brit chips when I want fish n chips and have done for some time.
The chips are always great, not too greasy and cooked to perfection; they are delicious. I usually also have a fish cake and a normal sized sausage, both items are also delicious.
The staff are always welcoming and friendly, there is a good system in place for ordering and waiting with some outdoor seating. There is also limited indoor seating available.
I always choose to completely take away either enjoying my food on the sea front or taking them home to eat.
The menu is decent with plenty of options available, historically I have experienced a bit of a wait from ordering to receiving my food; I have never minded as I believe these are the best fish n chips around. On my latest visit my food was ready extremely quickly, it was just as excellent as usual.
Based on my experiences over a few years now I would definitely recommend you give this fish n chip shop a try. I’m willing to bet you...
Read moreAs a cyclist I struggle to find good quality fish and chips when visiting places by bike. Being local to the area I've heard great reviews but never tried them. Well this evening while cycling from Bridgwater the hunger pain started so I thought I would try them. I have tested some fish and chips and for many years, I used to say Weymouth was the best place in the Sw , but tonight that changed. The flavour of the food was just amazing and what I expected fish and chips should be. I ordered small fish/chips as I'm on the bike and there was plenty to get me home. The batter was so tasty and light and the fish full of flavour and not fried to an inch of its life so all you taste is oil , the chips OMG the chips were perfecto light crispy but full of flavour. This will be my future chippy when I fancy them as my locals at Bridgwater come no where close to the quality of food I had was outstanding.
Well done to the owners outstanding fish and chips and not over priced like some chips shops I...
