I wasn't sure if there was a ramp leading to the beach, but after enquiring, I found out there was one near the Pier. I use a walking stick, so this was ideal. There is a slight ramp to walk down, but there is a long handrail.
The beach is lovely and well kept. The stretch of beach between the Pier and jetty, DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED - this rule is in place all year round, even though some people walking their dogs choose to ignore this rule!!
Our Cavapoo had a fabulous time running around and meeting other dogs. So gorgeous to see. We met a very angry dog walker, who had witnessed 5 people walking a dog. The dog did a BIG POO and not one of them stopped to pick it up. These are the type of people that us respectful dog owners despise. The angry dog walker made a sprint up the beach and spoke to them - it was clearly effective, as one of the group walked quite a way back down the beach and picked up the dog poo!! - good on him - people like them spoil our beaches. It's pathetic that grown adults have to be told to pick up after their dogs!! Our beautiful beaches and countryside are being spoilt because of people like this. It makes me so angry if you can't already tell. When you come off the beach, there are plenty of places to grab a coffee or have a meal or a snack. Burnham-on-Sea is a lovely place to visit. There is plenty of parking. Charges apply certain times of the year via pay machines. There is a B&M nearby, a Wetherspoon, plenty of shops a little further up in the High Street. Apex Park...
Read moreBurnham-on-Sea beach offers a delightful coastal escape with its wide expanse of golden sand and picturesque surroundings. During my visit, I was captivated by the stunning views of the Bristol Channel and the distant silhouette of the Welsh coastline. The beach's gentle slope makes it ideal for long walks, and the tidal range creates fascinating patterns in the sand, perfect for beachcombing and exploration.
The presence of a traditional pier adds to the charm of the area, providing a focal point for leisurely strolls and opportunities for seaside amusements. Families can enjoy the expansive beach for sandcastle-building and beach games, while the shallow waters during low tide offer a safe environment for paddling and swimming.
The amenities near the beach, including cafes, ice cream stands, and facilities for water sports, enhance the overall experience. However, visitors should be mindful of the tide times and safety guidelines due to the significant tidal range in the area.
Overall, Burnham-on-Sea beach presents a serene and beautiful setting for a relaxing day by the sea, making it a wonderful destination for families, couples, and nature...
Read moreHorrible place. Run down and scruffy and lot of the shops are shut down. It has the ugliest amusement arcade on the seafront. Why would anyone build that eyesore next to Victorian buildings which could look nice if some money was spent on the them. Locals look like they’ve just come out of prison or worse. (Sorry) Really disappointed and went home early as nothing to do here. Lakeside caravan was old fashioned ,scruffy and smelled fusky. Don’t know what they cleaned it with, in fact I don’t think they cleaned it. They just make sure there are stocked up don’t think it’s seen any cleaning products of any kind as it just smelled of mould when we walked in. The chairs have seen better days and look like they’ve come from the 1970’s with stains on them and smell too. Nothing in the town to do. Not even worth a visit for a day never mind a holiday. We went out to Bath and Glastonbury and other places so holiday was not a total loss. Don’t waste your money on Burnham on Sea, I wish I hadn’t. Beach is alright but the whole place is ruined by the town and seafront it needs money...
