When my friend & I are shopping in Burnham, we go into The Galley for a coffee & have been doing this for quite some time. Sometimes twice a week.
The waitress is always different.
A couple of months ago, after paying for our coffees & walking out of the door, the waitress approached us & asked if we had paid for our drinks. We said we had & off we went, saying to each other that is was a bit cheeky.
This morning (29 January 2020), we went in for our usual coffee. My friend went up to the counter. Handed over £5 and even left the 10p change on the counter, then we waved goodbye to the manageress, as she was on the phone and we left. Less then a minute later, a felt someone tap my arm and turned around to see the waitress from The Galley. She asked if we'd had 2 coffees, we said yes, then she asked if we'd paid. I said of course we had & my friend said she actually paid the owner & left the 10th on the counter. She then laughed, said okay and walked off.
A few seconds later, my friend & I looked at each other & became really angry. How dare she chase us down the road & ask if we'd paid!! People in the cafe would've seen her run out after us & people around us outside would've heard her asking us if we'd paid.
We felt really embarrassed & really annoyed. What we should've done is go back there & confront the owner, but having a doctor's appointment to get to, there was no time.
We will NEVER be stepping foot in there again.
They have lost good customers. If they can't keep track of who has paid when there are only a handful of customers in the cafe, then quite honestly, they shouldn't be running a cafe.
Even hours later, I still feel...

What a lovely little gem of a cafe this is!!
The food is all cooked fresh to order & you can really tell!
We went there as a family of 4 adults & 3 children & they accommodated us just fine, the seating was very comfortable & the range of food was perfect.
Even though the food was perfect, hands down my favourite part of the cafe had to be are waitress Sheila, who you can see in one of the photos with me! She really is the life & soul of the place! What a lovely lady 😍
Could I fault the place for anything??? Well, no, to be honest, it ticks all the boxes that you would want from a cafe.
I would recommend The Galley Café to anyone wanting some good honest grub, wherever it be a full-on home cooked meal, a breakfast or just a snack.
Plus, I had a cappuccino & the wife had a milkshake. What were both amazing, too!
It was my first time visiting Burnham On Sea & the next time we visit will 100% be coming back to this...
Read moreI've been coming to this cafe since I was small. It may have changed hands over the years but the quality of service and food has not. The food was lovely, the double bacon cheeseburger was one of the best my partner has had. I had the cottage pie which was piping hot and full of meat. The young lady serving was attentive and so pleasant. The couple cooking were lovely too. Its good, home cooked food within a lovely atmosphere. Its still as good as I remember it from my last visit 12 years ago. It brought back some lovely happy memories. If you are looking for a place for breakfast, lunch, a light bite or just a lovely cappuccino, then come to The...
