Appalling Service and Greasy Food – Avoid at All Costs! Our recent visit to Esplanade fish bar was an absolute disaster from start to finish. We decided to enjoy our fish and chips at one of their outdoor tables, and the initial interaction seemed normal enough when the server handed us a box of condiments, cutlery, salt, and vinegar to take to our table while we waited. This clearly indicated that we had opted for and paid for table service. However, things quickly went downhill. A young girl unceremoniously dropped our boxed fish and chips on the table without a word and then, to our surprise, returned to accuse us of not paying for table service. We attempted to clarify the situation, referencing the condiments we'd been given, but she just went back inside. What followed was completely unacceptable: the manager stormed out, visibly enraged and aggressive. He immediately threatened to throw a bucket of water over us if we didn't leave, completely disregarding our attempts to explain the mix-up and the fact that we had clearly otdered table service. His aggression escalated, leaving us with no choice but to pack up our food and leave immediately. To top it all off, the fish and chips themselves were a huge disappointment – incredibly greasy and far from enjoyable. Given the utterly shocking and threatening behavior of the manager, I strongly advise anyone to avoid this chip shop unless you're prepared to record your entire interaction for your own safety. We visited this Chip shop on a very wet October Sunday afternoon. We were warmly greeted and could see the restaurant was busy with happy customers tucking into what looked like delicious fish and chips. We ordered 4 kids meals 2x burger and chips 1x chicken nuggets and one being a kids fish and chips for my wife and of course one adults fish and chips for myself. It was all cooked fresh to order and didn’t take long all proper salt and vinegar was on the table and when the food arrived it was piping hot, smelt and looked delicious. The beef burger was perfect size for our kids good portion of chips, chicken nugget's came with 4 very tasty and nice size portion of chips. My wife’s kids fish was a good size and good size portion of chips all were served with a drink and Kelly’s ice cream for pudding plus options of sides like beans, peas or mushy peas. My adults fish and chips was huge small chips was a very large portion and as in other review photos the fish was superior size and battery was light crispy but also fluffy in the middle the fish was fantastic as for the chips they were not greasy or over cooked they were some of the best chips I’ve had. Our experience was amazing and we have now found a new favourite seaside chippy that is only 30 minutes from home.

Omg this place is amazing! Not only the food but the customer service! They are so accommodating and have gluten free fish and chips, fish cakes (which are beautiful!) and battered sausages. A lot of GF on the menu which is so refreshing to see. So there was 5 of us and we ordered 4 fish and 3 large chips, 3 battered sausages and 2 fish cakes (all GF). The battered sausages weren’t popping hot in the middle so I discreetly let the server know. He came back very apologetic and even the manager came and said sorry. Asked if we wanted a refund or more battered sausages. We said more food (as everything else tasted so good!) The server then came back and said the manager asked if we wanted anything else, we politely declined and the server said he was told he has to give us something, so my mum had a tea. After 10mins, they bought a large gf fish and chips!! We were so surprised in a good way and again they were very apologetic! We hit the jack pot by getting more of that amazing GF fish and chips! I really cannot explain in any more words how much of a positive experience we had with the service and food! Definitely recommend if you’re in Burnham-on-Sea! Thanks...
