Fortes Cafe & Ice Cream Parlour — Restaurant in England

We just visited here, as the cafe we had planned to go to was closed. We went with our daughter and her two friends, two of them are Autisic, and affected by noise... So we stood in the doorway and decided if it was okay... They all decided it was pleasantly quiet enough. Although the decor is abit dated, we decided to stay and ordered our food. Three bowls of chips, two coffees, water and fruit shoot. All was enjoyed. They decided they were gonna treat themselves to a pudding. Ice cream for one, and my daughter ordered a waffle and banana, ( overpriced concidering she had no ice cream or cream or toppings as she is dairy intolerant) anyway she paid with her own money, and went to eat. Happily eating until she came across a hair! That didn't match hers or her friends, so she called dad over to take it back and complain, which is the right thing to do. Anyway he has greeted by a rude and overpowing man, who said the hair was on the side of the plate( which is where my daughter put it when she found it) and there was nothing he could do! Because it was 80% eaten... Well that's when she found the hair! And believe me being Autisic and germiphobic, if she had found it in the first bite that's when she would have stopped! No word of an apology! No offer of reimbursement! Or replacement! (We wouldn't of wanted another anyway! Especially now we know the hygiene isn't that great!) A very rude man indeed! And because of his presence, made my husband felt uncomfortable and unable to challenge... Obviously their tactic! Sounds like he needs replacing after having now read other reviews! (Wish we had read before we ventured in!) This could have been handled in a totally different way, because up until that point, it was okay and a few positives going for it. But as it is we will never go back and I will deter others...

The old lady with a swollen back caused me problems at the till and i was short changed When i went back to ask for my change she didnt like it £5 had it in for me from then on I changed my mind and clothes after shopping and i was given dirty looks and she called another woman I tried again and a Female with long black hair brought everything to attention They said i cant eat in there i can have tea that's it So the focus was directly on her and she basked in it Then a weird kind of attack from the three of them 'Witches of Eastwick' Springs to mind So i got the blame when Marcus found out for the review i gave weird again as reviews are supposed to be honest arent they! We have been going to Forte for 37 years. We live in Bridgwater. The jacket potato was 'old'. I advised the server of this who told the owner. He was extremely aggressive towards me and said he cooked it himself so knew it was alright. He said I should bring it to the counter!!! I was aghast should he not have come to the table! I felt bullied I am an elderly lady of 71 with health issues. After buying sandwiched to replace my meal I returned to my table. I then asked the lady who cleared the table to take the plate to her boss. He came to the table carrying the plate saying I had eaten the potato and all that was left was the skin. I protested and said that I had had two mouthfuls. He was loud and aggressive. He said he was doing nothing about that!!! I wasn't particularly asking for a refund just to draw attention to the quality of the food. He had no idea of customer service. He was loud and aggressive to an elderly lady who he practically called a liar. I was shaking and extremely upset.
