This is a fantastic restaurant! You have to suspend disbelief at first. It seems rather small and very old fashioned with old English classics on the board. Special of the day was toad in the hole and puddings include spotted dick and knickerbocker glory. It feels very much like a throwback to my 1970s childhood but with much better cooking. But please don't be fooled!!! We ordered seafood chowder, crab linguini, lobster linguine, crab cakes and traditional fish and chips. All were faultless. Very fresh seafood not overcooked at all. Very well seasoned. Perfectly crisp batter, absolutely perfect. Traditional English puddings - rum orange and ginger, just as good. The wine list is basic, but it would be churlish to fault that. Arrived here looking for a meal as many places were not yet open for the summer season and was very impressed. The service is good Yvonne and Simon are genial hosts and the menu is very good it took us a good 15 minutes to decide on what to have. We enjoyed it so much we came back the following night and chuckled as we were offered our regular table. I highly recommend this Bistro and will go back next time I am in Sandown. The first night I ordered bangers and mash my wife had sea bass on the second night I ordered lamb shank and my wife ordered linguine Bolognese both were very enjoyable accompanied with the house red wine. Fantastic small family run restaurant on the highstreet. Read great reviews and had walked past this place many times before. We had dinner there on Thursday night, the manager/owner was so friendly and really made us feel welcome, she spoke to every customer in fact, and helping those that needed that little extra support.

There are some great options to choose from, I had the Mediterranean tart with new potatoes and vegetables, it was so good. My partner had the beef bourguignon and he enjoyed this also. The price was just right, they had some delicious looking desserts too but we were too full up!
