We called Flanagans at 16:15. We was given a table for 19:30. We we arrived at Flanagans at 19:05. They seated us outside to wait for the other customers to leave. We was not given a drinks menu, so we had to guess what they had to drink. We was told when the table was ready we had to make our own way to seat ourselves at the table. We seated ourselves at 20 past 7pm, and had to wait 40 minutes for someone to aknowledge us. Due to current covid restrictions it was full table service. Regrettably one of us had to go up to the bar to get noticed. When we finally got menus, we both orderd the 10oz rump steak with chips, salad and Onion rings. We was given a preference on how we would like our steak to be cooked we both orderd med/rare.

I paid a visit to the men's toilet. They had no hand sanitizer in the men's toilet, only soap dispenser. When our food was presented to us it was not what we ordered. When we questioned our meals, we was told we was given a deal. Said deal was 2 8oz rump steaks with chips and peas. The menu that was given had no deals, but also only had one rump steak on the menu. We was not told of any deal for any other steaks. Our 8oz rump steaks was not cooked to our speciation, we never returned them due to waiting for them and no check back was given. When the wrong food was delivered there was no refill drinks asked even though one glass was empty. After waiting 20 minutes and attempting to get someone's attention, I had to get up again to order another drink from the bar. Waited for another 10 minutes and due to nearly being 2 hours in the restaurant, we had to ask for the bill and that we ran out of time.

As we was leaving there was No good bye or thank you when leaving 20:55.

Needed extra staff.. Live music was awesome.

Kind regards...

We chose this place because it looked lovely and full of people, a sort of authentic local place. It was our very first time visiting the island, first intake of food after quite a long car journey... So we found a nice table outside and I went to order the food. Before I continue, I'd like to mention that I know first hand what it's like to have a busy kitchen, and I sympathize with the staff. That being said, my main concern is not the wait, which I heard coming up to the counter would be between 45 minutes and an hour. I had a plan. I was going to get us a snack, something that won't put more pressure on the kitchen and we would be happy to wait then. When I tried to sort this, I wasn't sure the staff completely understood me. Nevertheless, they proceeded to take my drinks order (one at a time ...) And when it came to ordering food, with the drinks already poured, I was told to wait while they check with the kitchen whether it's possible at all to put an order for food through. Eventually coming back, the team member still couldn't tell me if I could order the main food, but assured me that some cheesy chips will be out shortly and they will let me know. We waited. After about 20 minutes I made the executive decision to send the rest of my party on a search for food elsewhere. Everything else was closed - either on that day or the kitchen had closed by that point in the evening. I essentially waited for 45 minutes for an order of cheesy chips and they could not make us anything else. We lost an opportunity to eat anywhere at all, and all we got was an apology. Sincere and appreciated, but nothing you can feed an 11-year-old with.

I feel bad leaving a bad review but this needs to be...

Awful service and food

Went to this place to have a dinner, it was busy so had to book a table in advance. The only good thing about this place is it’s location as you can see ocean while you’re inside. The menu clearly says “Don’t stand up from the table, we’ll come to your table to get your order”. Thought ok, it’s COVID we’d better wait. Waited for about 15min, nobody came. So went to the bar to find out no one was actually coming and you need to get the bar to order. The order: got well done steak when ordered medium, it wasn’t salty at all so not even tasty. Ordered cheesecake and a soup of the day, soup was way too spicy, they could at least say that! Couldn’t eat the soup, though it tasted as if from the can. I also ordered a cheesecake, so thought ok I’ll at least eat this, it wasn’t coming so I went to the bar to ask where it was, was told it would be served when it’s ready. However, then found out, they didn’t include it in the bill and it wasn’t actually coming! So had to pay for it additionally, which I now wish I hadn’t as it didn’t even taste like a cheesecake, some veeery sweet liquid substance all throughout with pieces of low quality chocolate and balls of ice-cream, which tasted as if it didn’t have any dairy in it. I also think the menu is too pricy, especially for the quality you get. We paid over £25 for just 1 steak, with a starter and a cake with 2 soft drinks (seems they do not participate in EatOutToHelpOut). You can definitely find better for this money. I am not coming here again and do not recommend the place, maybe just for a scenery if you are not...

Very disappointed with this establishment. We ordered lunch for 3 people, 3 portions of butterfly chicken with chips, onion rings, peas and beer. The first portion for my daughter was good but for me and my husband it was unacceptable. When I cut the chicken, it had an unpleasant smell and a fly immediately flew in and bothered me.We started smelling our dishes and the waiters saw it.Since I speak English poorly, I asked my daughter to explain that 2 dishes were not edible and dangerous. We were told that they did not smell any unpleasant smell and the cook was confident in the dish. They prepared the other 2 servings.I didn't dare cut them, I ate the potatoes and onions and finally cut the chicken There was an unpleasant smell of rotten chicken with vinegar.During this hour and a half, I was not compensated for this terrible lunch.I do not recommend this restaurant as you may get poisoned. Also in this cafe there were children who could suffer damage to their health. I don't think that I paid ÂŁ52.70 for everything, that this is an adequate price for my failed full meal.I would like to return the money and no longer serve it in such dubious establishments where the cooks and waiters do not smell the rotten meat.

If you're visiting the Isle of Wight and looking for a place to enjoy delicious food with stunning views, Flanagan in Sandown is a must-visit. This charming restaurant offers a variety of mouth-watering dishes, including classic fish and chips and succulent steak and chips, all at very reasonable prices. The fish and chips are a standout, featuring perfectly crispy batter and tender, flavorful fish. The steak is cooked to perfection, paired with golden, crispy chips that complement the meal wonderfully. Flanagan's location is another highlight. Situated close to the beach, it provides a great setting to enjoy your meal while taking in the beautiful coastal scenery. The combination of excellent food, great value for money, and the fantastic views makes Flanagan a top choice for both locals and visitors alike. Whether you're after a hearty meal after a day at the beach or simply looking to enjoy a delightful dining experience, Flanagan in Sandown is sure to impress.

We booked a table and went for a Saturday dinner. They gave us a nice table with a view of the beach. Service was alright. The food that we ordered was not great. The best ones were the french loaf that came with the stilton cheese broccoli soup and the garlic bread that came with the lasagne. The food could have been better if the melted cheese was cooked more to make the top brown and crispy. This was not the case for both the lasagne and the cheese fries as you can see from the pictures. The dishes were loaded with too much undercooked cheese. The fries under the cheese was pretty undercooked too so the dish was not enjoyable. We did not enjoy the stilton cheese in the cream of broccoli soup which gave it a smell. The guitarist who played live music was fantastic which added to the nice ambience.
