We visited Belushies with our 2 children today and I think it’s the worst experience we have ever had eating out.
We ordered Cokes, but they tasted strange, so I politely asked a member of staff (Nathan) whether it was real Coke or Diet. His response was unnecessarily aggressive and inappropriate: “Because it tastes shit? Sorry about that,” and he walked off.
When he walked past again, I said, “Excuse me, why were you so dismissive? I wasn’t being rude, I just asked a question.” He responded, “I’m busy, I have other things to do,” and walked off again. His manner was abrupt, aggressive, and totally uncalled for.
We told another member of bar staff who was much more professional. He listened, apologised on behalf of his colleague, and agreed the behaviour wasn’t acceptable. He kindly went to get the manager.
Unfortunately, the manager only made things worse. She didn’t apologise or take any responsibility at all. She treated us as though we were the problem, saying she would refund the food but not the drinks. We explained that we were leaving the drinks and would like a full refund. She did eventually agree, but with a rude and dismissive attitude and still no apology. My husband said that their customer service was awful and she said ‘please leave’ as if we were the issue.
To make matters worse, the menu clearly listed Coca-Cola, but the manager later told us it wasn’t Coca-Cola at all, as if that was our fault. That’s not only misleading, it feels dishonest.
This experience was particularly upsetting for us because we were there with our autistic son and our young daughter , who both found the confrontation and tone of the staff member very distressing. What should have been a simple, polite question turned into an unnecessarily stressful and uncomfortable situation.
We left feeling unwelcome and disrespected. Based on this experience, we will not be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others especially anyone who expects basic courtesy, honesty, or...
Read moreThis looks to be a very popular place in Newquay, the primarily reason is the view, which is absolutely breath-taking, which must be the reason the place is so popular (book in advance to avoid being disappointed).
Unfortunately, as it's so popular you can tell that the customer service and food really suffer.
I don't know how to describe the general atmosphere in there, it's just one of those places and you go and you get that feeling that the staff really hate their customers. I was sat just having a beer and a burger, in that time I saw three separate groups of people on other tables raise relatively minor issues that escalated to either an argument, being refused service, or asked to leave. It looked to me the staff liked winding people up so theycould get them to leave.
I was online there one time for a few hours so it may be an anomaly, but it did seem cultural.
The food was half decent, nothing to write home about, and it was definitely over priced, as I mentioned at the beginning, you are paying for the view not the service or food.
Oh, another thing while I am here, that's absolutely ridiculous, there is an App you have to use to order food, make sure you download this before arriving, the wi-fi and 4G is absolutely diabolical, it took me 30 minutes to download the app. They let you order at the bar, but that takes just as long as they are relying on the App (read that as huge queue), then you have to walk all the way round the building to get back o your seat.; absolutely makes no sense.
Advice to Belusi's Try to be nice to your customers. Work on the food quality control. Work on your process to make the place...
Read moreJust had the absolute worst experience here. Ordered some salads and chips, and food was taking quite awhile while other tables got their food that sat after us. Went to the bar to ask and was condescendingly told it was taking awhile because of a larger group, which was a lie because a minute later they brought the food which clearly had been sitting out unattended. The salads were swimming in the worst dressing you’ve ever tried and the fries were cold.
Brought the salads in to let them know they were inedible (tasted like spoonfuls of dressing) and the woman (I believe the manager) told me that that is how they come, and they couldn’t do anything to help me. I was even willing to pay the £3 difference for something else, but she declined. She repeated that she could not do anything because this is how they are normally made.
Essentially, they made me pay £20 for two of the worst salads you could ever imagine, despite my spending over £100 at the same place the day before on drinks and dinner, and planning to spend about the same each evening for the rest of my 5 day trip.
Throughout this encounter, the staff could not have cared less about making things right, and just tried to put the blame on me about the situation. They also make you pay before you even see the food so by the time you get it they just blame you if you don’t like it.
If you want to be treated like garbage rather than a paying customer, this place is perfect for you.
EDIT: the business replied to me and said to get in contact with them, but the phone line doesn’t work anymore and they won’t...
