Bexter's Tea Room — Restaurant in England

A very clean spacious tea room However .....the service is not the best it is very disorganised and hit and miss. I have been here 3 times on different occasions .1st time served straight away with light lunch all good until we asked for sauce to accompany our sandwich and were told 'we don't serve sauces ! 2nd time we waited that long to be served we ended up getting up and leaving to be served immediately at the cafe across the road. 3rd time I watched as the people who arrived in front of me were served and half way through their lunch before my order was taken, once my order had been taken I then received the wrong drink ! Needless to say not the best time had when in need of...

I agree with one of the other reviews in that the scones are soooooo dry and stick to your teeth - maybe too much bicarbonate, I dont know? Supposedly walnut and date but tasteless and I'd go so far as to say the worst scone I've ever tried to eat- very disappointing given that the scone was 'speciality' which commanded a higher price!! Sadly I couldn't eat it. Always liked the atmosphere when this tea room used to be situated up the side path but now not so sure. Positives are that the staff are welcoming...

Good service at fair prices. Lovely traditional tea room. It's very cosey atmosphere and helpful knowledgeable staff make it a great STOP of drop in experience. I would really recommend it to anyone who has special diatry needs as they have gluten free products and for anyone who has food allergies the information about what ingredients are contained in each of their products is available from their very helpful and friendly staff.
