Visiting Stokesley after visiting Great Ayton from our holiday accommodation in Danby, on the moors. Did try to get a tea meal in most pubs in Stokesley, but all said not doing food til after renovations!!! Walked from one end to the other, and was walking back to the car to try elsewhere, when we found this gem! - Chippy with American style diner, was able to eat our Fish, chips and mushy peas, with tea and bread and butter in the lovely and clean diner. Lovely food and excellent service from the very polite and very hard working staff ( husband and wife?) Good value to for dining in at £12.50 per person. Noticed, normally open 7 days, but a sign said we're not opening on a Sunday, for the winter months, - enjoy your day off, you deserve it! Excellent Fish and chips, and we know, were from Barnsley South Yorkshire!!! Probably not be up that way again for years, but if you are, we would definitely recommend eating or takeaway from this hard working small business, that goes the extra mile! Well done, both of you that served us on Thursday 28th September...
Read moreWe went as we were passing through, and were recommended this fish shop. It was about 7pm, there was no one else in the fish shop. The older women was ignorant, and unpleasant. I asked for a small fish and chips, the look and roll of her eyes she gave me, even my youngest asked why she was staring at me horribly. I had to wait for the fish, which was fine, but she took it straight out of the fryer, and put it on top of the chips, so everything was dripping full of oil. On the top, there was a notice asking if you didn't want the food in a box, it could be wrapped in paper which I asked for as it tastes better. She slammed the paper on the top and tutted. And the worst part was when I asked for scraps on the chips, you'd have thought I'd asked for her card and pin number. We paid, said our thanks and goodbye to no reply. She didn't even bother looking at us. So overall, appalling customer service, over priced and horrible food. Never again. There's another fish shop further down -...
Read moreRolling into Stokesley after a fun but tiring day exploring the lanes of the North Yorkshire moors the group I was with were all hungry so it was decided we'd hit the chippy, the Stokesley fish shop became the object of desire, decorated in a light scheme of mainly white with pink and blue bits in the restaurant side away from the takeaway side.
The fish is cooked to order and I'm told is pretty good, i had the battered sausage which was lovely and made with i think a cumberland one, the chips were also lovely and their chip spice makes them a little more spectacular!
As they're open daily you should always be able to get...
