We were visiting the races at Thirsk this weekend for the first time and stopping in the town centre. Feeling extremely hungry we popped out for food and immediately came across Bianco Ristorante. The building itself really drew you in and once we checked out the menu, we knew we had to give it a try. When we walked in, the restaurant was heaving, always a good sign, so we decided to ask for a takeaway. The gentleman that served us, so sorry I didn't get your name, was wonderful! He apologised for there being no tables inside but offered to get us drinks if we were happy to sit outside and wait. He was so extremely polite and accommodating, and we were more than happy to enjoy the drinks and watch the world go by. The food was ready in no time and he once again thanked us for waiting outside. We got back to the hotel and when we opened the boxes, we couldn't believe the high quality of the food. This was the best pizza and garlic bread we have had in years! No wonder the restaurant was so busy. Thank you so much to the fabulous host of the restaurant and we can't wait to visit again next time we are in Thirsk. 10/10 for food, location and of course service!

Accommodated walkin at 4 pm on Saturday without a booking for a quick meal. Excellent service in a very clean restaurant with handicap accessibility. Lively place for gatherings in the center of Thirsk. Gets noisy quickly. Entrees: Special of the day: Fruitta Del Mar of mix seafood: mussels, salmon, cod in a light tomato based sauce with mixed olives was tasty. Cod was dry as old boots. Rice with sautéed veggies on top was very good. Fish & chips was crunchy on top but soggy on the bottom. Large steak cut chips were ok with basic tartare sauce. Peas looking a bit wrinkly in a cup were ok-love peas & ate them anyway due to hunger. Very fresh salad with some white bitter iceberg in the middle. Good Evoo to drizzle on salad. A local chef recommended the risotto but I make it often myself being Italian. Outside one can smell oil in over cooked garlic. When we left our clothes smelled the same way. Nonetheless, the staff made up for a “meh” meal. Nice wine selection. Very clean bathrooms with handicapped access on 1st floor. Cashless payment available.

Overall only average! Food was good and reasonable value but whole experience was let down by poor service which was a shame as a Bianco was recommended by friends. Ordered 3 main courses, a panini and calzone plus a kids pizza. The 2 adult meals arrived after a fair wait but and we were told the child's meal would be 4-5 mins. Arrived at the table 10 mins later while the other 2 main meals had been sat on the table going cold. Not great and no apologie or reason given. Table was booked for 16.00, we arrived on time but as the service was so slow it was 17.30 when we left having only eaten 3 main meals and a child's ice-cream. Slow service can be excused if the place is busy but it was pretty quiet. Despite the calzone been recommended it was not the best I've had and definitely not the largest, see photo. Might be a one off experience but if I'm honest given the choice of places to eat out we will not rush back to Bianco in Thirsk

If I could rate 0 stars I would absolutely disgusting service this afternoon extremely rude! I went this afternoon with my baby and a friend table booked for 2. I walked in said the reservation name to which the guy in charge said you have brought a buggy I have no room for one. (Table was booked at 4.30pm and there were only 2 other tables in) I explained I wasn't leaving my son outside so is there a table available, to which the same guy kept saying well you have brought a buggy, another guy then came over to see what the issues was, original guy says she's brought a buggy I've got no room, by this point I am ready to leave, eventually they show me to a table to be told you need to leave by 6pm as I need this table back, I sit down, my friend joins and I park the pushchair at the end of the table in no one's way, original guys comes back "you can't leave the buggy there" I ask "why not" he goes on to explain I need to push my son into a tiny corner as they will be moving with hot food to serve the other tables . I completely understand the hot food but all the surrounding tables were empty, I kindly explained to the guy once the tables around start filling up I will sit my baby on my knee again the pushchair isn't in the way of anyone to which he replied "oh just whatever then" another guy came to take our drinks order, I explained I couldn't stay there and eat the utter rudeness and aggressive tone over a tiny pushchair really was disgusting! Writing this review for any other parents who want to attend with a pushchair...

Have dined here several times before and always had excellent food so had no hesitation in returning on Wednesday 28th June for the early evening special - two courses for £15.95. Starters delicious but when my main course of seafood risotto arrived, together with my friends seafood linguine, we knew immediately that something was not right. The smell from the food was awful, but I decided to try one of the mussels from my dish and had to spit it out. I was left with a foul metallic taste in my mouth. We asked for the food to be taken away, and were offered the same dish again or an alternative, but, the smell and taste had made us both feel nauseous so we decided to finish our drinks and leave. We were charged the full price of our starters and drinks (no allowances made for ruining our evening) but what really upset us both was that we were made to feel as though our refusal to eat the food was unreasonable! Comments made were “the mussels were fresh this morning”, “no-one else has complained”, “I tried one and it tasted alright to me”. Mussels are one of my favourite dishes and I have eaten very many over the years and I know with absolute certainty that the ones my friend and I were served last Wednesday were bad. Shame on you Bianco for your poor handling of a genuine complaint from two previously very satisfied customers who will not be...

Ate here last week whilst staying in the area for a few days. The food was very tasty and came out the kitchen quickly. I looked through the menu to see what looked good and immediately loved the sound of the spaghetti puttanesca. Now I am vegetarian and the menu did not show a 'v' next to this dish but did not give any ingredients listed that were not veggie, I purposely called the waitress over to ask if this was a vegetarian dish? She went over to the man at the front of house who i am assuming is the owner or the manager then came back to say yes aslong as I could eat capers. Now capers are a seed/ flower that are pickled and are vegetarian, so happy with this i ordered and ate half the plate (large portions given). Having got home and looked at the recipe tonight to try and make this dish at home i have found this actually includes minced ANCHOVIES! Which are not vegetarian at all! So upset the owner and the waitress got this information so wrong and as a result compromised my diet of 6 years! Imagine if someone was allergic to fish!!! For this reason I have had to knock off a few stars, had the waitress advised of the anchovies i would have asked if the dish could be made without or picked something else if not :( very upset to have learned this...
