Had a trip into Thirsk while it was nice and thought as we'd never been in here before we'd give it a whirl.. What a mistake. There were 3 ladies upstairs apart from us so we thought service would be quick and with a smile at least. The waitress to our orders at the same time but they were first and all ordered a salad. We on the other hand just wanted cake and a drink..It took ten minutes for the drinks to arrive which could have been brought with the cakes as they only needed picking off the shelf but oh no, we had to wait until the ladies had their salads. Fifteen minutes later just as we were contemplating leaving as we'd finished our drinks the cakes came out. How disappointed was I. The Yorkshire custard that I'd ordered was about 2cm radius and as stale as hell, more pastry than custard and the the scone my husband asked for was served with squirty cream as the waitress said they had been that busy they had run out..When we came to pay it the most expensive we'd paid all the time we've been away for the what was the worst we've had all holiday. Won't be going...
Read moreI’m extremely impressed with this fab deli / cafe/restaurant in Thirsk .It’s so good I almost struggle to put it in words.Tea lovers will adore the beautiful crockery and it’s very pleasant in the usual areas of staff , decor etc but the food is simply mind blowing .Look at this for a ten pound ‘cheese , crackers and chutney ‘ plate .It came on a board around two foot wide ! Four big slabs of cheese -Stilton ,Brie and two Cheddars ?-with a side salad and lots of extras ( bean sprouts , strawberries , raspberries , blueberries etc ! My companions’ soup was gorgeous too .This is the best food I’ve had in 2023 and considering it was a hot ,sticky day the staff had their work cut out .I’d say their breakfasts must be awesome .A...

I have a no pork/bacon dietary requirement (sorry Babe!, actually you should be thankful), and there was a slight touching of bacon on the tongs. They did not hesitate to complete the whole process to ensure they were being mindful of my personal considerations. This speaks volumes of their character and I wouldn't hesitate to return there again on this alone. Not to mention the Sandwiches were like Manna...
