We held a birthday party at the Blue Boar. Marie, Tony and staff were absolutely fantastic. We booked the upstairs room as we invited between 40 and 50 people. We had access to the room beforehand to decorate with balloons etc. The room has its own bar and bathrooms so guests don't need to go downstairs to the pub.

We had a DJ (thanks phil) and and amazing buffet (thanks chef), all organised by the Blue Boar team. The music was perfect for the group and the dancefloor was packed all night. The food was delicious and plentiful, with a mix of hot (ribs, chicken goujons spring rolls etc) and cold (mini quiches, saldas, various filled wraps etc). The vegetarian options were great too. There was also a selection of lovely bite sized desserts.

One of our guests had a nut allergy and chef took care of it personally, speaking to myself and the guest, making sure that food was clearly marked and even offering to make an additional dessert if needed (it wasnt as there was so much food we didn't manage to eat eat it all).

We chose the buffet which I cant recommend enough but the Boar also offers charcuterie plates which I have had before and would also recommend.

Everyone had a great time and the party was a roaring success. Marie, Tony and team took care if us all night ensuring it went off without a hitch.

If you're looking for a venue give them a ring and have a chat.

Our thanks again to the Blue boar team for a very...

We went to the Blue Boar for my mum and dad's wedding. They had a great time but I have to say that I was sadly disappointed. I found the staff rude, the room not fit for the amount of guests they promised and the service was shocking. After providing a food and guest list it wasnt used, but although this was frustrating that wasn't a major issue. I am extremely disappointed that after being asked to cut the wedding cake and take it down for evening guests, they left it in the function room and locked up. An amazing cake that was supplied for guests was locked away. What also let the service down was a fridge that wasn't working meaning less drinks available and not restocking after a big party the night before. I hope nobody else experiences the poor service we did but all that matters is my parents...

We had booked at the merchant’s cellar last night as we were very excited about the boards on offer. Due to a shortage in staff (which can’t be helped) we couldn’t eat in the cellar downstairs. The staff were so apologetic and accommodating by offering the same menu upstairs. We honestly were so fine with the situation as we came solely for the food and wine anyway. The upstairs has been renovated beautifully and what a wonderful atmosphere. The food was unreal! Much much better than other cheese and charcuterie places locally. The staff were absolutely lovely and the landlord was so friendly and very knowledgeable on his food and wines. We are going to book in for the supper club for sure and I’m sure this is going to become a new regular for us. Thank you so much for making our anniversary such a...

Went to Poole and wanted some small plates to nibble on with a glass of wine and couldn't find anything enticing around the quay area.We had heard that the Blue Boar has a new charcuterie cellar bar so went to check it out. Unfortunately it was closed due to a private event but the staff were really lovely and pulled together a board for us to have upstairs with some easy to drink Italian Verminto. Lola our waitress and the manager were very accommodating, thank you we will certainly be back!

Friendly staff. Good choice of Tap, Bottle or optics. Coffee /tea is "a kettle and a jar" Disabled toilet /baby changing room has been out of order for a whole due to "vandals". Lots of Armed Forces and Lifeboat memorabilia on walls adding to the character of the building. Car park structure opposite the pub. The town centre is a short walk away. The Registry Office is across the road. Converted cellar available for private functions.

A very nice Fuller's pub with friendly staff, and nice food. Some nights are deal nights such as all you can eat ribs. There're two full size fires in the L shaped bar, which at this time of year give a nice feel and atmosphere. You could also be lucky enough to be greeted by the two in house bulldogs who have a lovely temperament and are very friendly.
