To say I was disappointed doesnt even begin to cover it. I was actually very upset when visiting here. Having been a supporter of the RNLI for many, many years and having earlier that day being to the Poole rnli museum and loved it. We made the decision to go and visit the college. After spending ages trying to park, we walked to the college. The first thing we came across was a set of metal stairs saying viewing platform. Having carried the dog up to the top of the viewing platform all you could see was an empty swimming pool and a view of Asda. We then went round to the main entrance of the college only to be told that we couldn't take dogs inside. This is the first ever RNLI location that I've encountered where this has been the case. Truly disappointed. We were then told that we could take the dog around the outside area. This turned out to be a very very small area where we could see one boat that was tied up and the closed coffee shop. Total waste of time, not the standards I've come to expect from the rnli. Whilst there, we noticed that the very extravagant college had been built with donations. It was obvious that a great deal of money had been spent to make it look attractive rather than to make it functional, having supported the RNLI for many, many years this has probably now put me off supporting them ever again. Truly heartbreaking as I think the work they...
Read moreWas so looking forward to staying in this hotel after reading the reviews but felt badly let down. Room was much dearer than expected (my fault) as accidently booked a superior room but when I found this out I was fine with it because, based on standard room reviews, I thought it would be amazing. Had my granddaughter with us and asked for the bed settee to be made up which it was. However, we were in room 411 and the bed settee completely took up one side of the room. We could not get to the half sized window (room is on a corner) without climbing on her bed and could only just see out of the window from the other side of the room. So much for waking up to an amazing view!!! The bathroom had a dirty ring on the shelf and you could not sit at the desk with the bed settee down. No tour offered, no info about the simulator and you had to pay for pastries at breakfast. I gave this hotel 2 stars based on the rest of the breakfast, good location and comfort of the beds. I would have complained but we were all tired and I did not want to wait for another sofa bed to be made up. We were only there for 1 night.|I was really excited about our stay but feel completely let down. I have always been a supporter of the rnli with it being the only charity that I have given a monthly donation to but this has really harmed my...
Read moreI stayed here with my elderly mother as we were attending a "Launch a Memory" event to see my late father's name on the side of the new Clifden Shannon class lifeboat. The staff at reception were very helpful and even managed to arrange for my mother to have an accessible room, I hadn't arranged for this but it was appreciated by my mother. The room I stayed in was a standard room but was of an excellent standard with a double bed, workstation, lounging sofa that could also be turned into an extra bed, tea making facilities & small fridge and ensuite bathroom. As mentioned by others all rooms overlook the bay area. The restaurant requires booking and this can be arranged online beforehand or at reception but the menu is replicated in the bar on the first floor and this does not require prebooking. It was Friday evening of our stay so the restaurant was fully booked so we ate in the bar and the food we had was of a very good standard. All staff encountered were inviting and very helpful and I have no problems in recommending staying here, in fact I will most likely be staying here again at the "Launch a Memory" event of the Wells Next to Sea lifeboat with my friends name...
