Boswells — Restaurant in England

Very disappointing. I have visited Boswells in Chippenham a number of times over the last few years, every time disappointed with the food and customer service but the last time was the last time. I ordered a English breakfast and a latte which was steep at around £13/£14 I believe, fair enough if the food was really good but it was certainly not. The beans were poured over the bacon, the plate was a mess, the sausages looked undercooked and like they had come out of a Richmonds packet. The bacon overcooked, I asked for the eggs well done as I always do as that is how I like them, they came out underdone and runny, I had waited around 20 minutes for this cr@p by then my latte was gone and i was very upset and disappointed. I eat in weatherspoons in Bristol often and for around £10 you can get a full English of much higher quality with free coffee refills! I imagine the weatherspoons in Chippenham is the same so I would recommend going there over boswells any day for a fry up. Final note is that I notice it is mostly the older and retired generation eating at Boswells, probably because it's is well situated and there is not many other cafes available here. I just think to be ripping of the pensioners with the best part of £10 for a jacket potato with some tinned tuna or beans on top is disgusting to be honest (I have tried this menu option and was absolutely terrible, worse than the breakfast) If it was not for the pensioners I do not belive you would still be in business boswells so either up your service and food quality massively or drop your prices considerably. The abundance of young people milling about behind the counter does nothing to improve the quality or speed of service here. Both speed and good service are lacking here. Sunday morning and it's very quiet, plenty of seating available and in quite a nice setting although it is open to the shopping centre. The latte was not particularly good being made by a girl busy chatting to her colleague while you stand and wait. Service is minimal and robotic, delivered by people who clearly don't care. Breakfast was reasonably quick, but as the place was so quiet, that was to be expected. Maybe taking a little longer and cooking the bacon more and not pouring the beans over the top of the breakfast would have been better. The place seems to lack adult supervision and oversight. The quietness attracted me, and Boswells is reasonably good value 👌 However, I was left wishing I had gone to Rivo, where I would have paid a little more but would have received better service and a nicer breakfast 😉 Boswells has a great location and offer here but needs to up their game. We visit often probably 2-3 times aweek but yesterday and again today service was really poor, yesterday took over 30 minutes to get a bacon egg and mushroom bap and bacon sandwich, on arrival bacon in sandwich was barely warm but so dry it was inedible returned and had a replacement next one was slightly better but didn’t eat as was put off by the time it arrived, today we visited had a bacon and cheese potato skins, arrived at table and were cold and looked very unappetising my daughter ordered a vegetarian breakfast and once she started eating found 3 long hairs mixed in with her hash browns and beans the cook was a young man with long hair draped over his face, no hair net gloves etc my daughter requested a refund which was granted but staff seemed unfazed about the complaint.
