Unfortunately we had a poor experience in this cafe this morning.
We have previously been multiple times and had pleasant visits.
As this is a dog friendly establishment, we have brought our puppy many times before, as we did today. To cut a long story short my puppy did whine and bark on occasions but this was majority in retaliation to another dog in the cafe also barking. I appreciate it can be annoying when dogs are barking.
Half way through our hot meal and drink a member of staff who I now know is the owner came over and asked my friend to ‘take the dog outside’. I did not hear what was asked and by the time I turned around the owner had disappeared. I asked my friend what he said as she looked gobsmacked. We were asked to leave however other customers with barking dogs were not asked to leave. It was not explained to us why we were asked to leave or even assisted with leaving despite still having hot food and drink on the table which we had already paid for.
They have recently ‘updated’ their dog policy and explained that they may ask owners to move outside to eat/drink. If we were politely asked to move outside to finish our food/drink as we were disturbing customers and we were assisted to move our hot food and drinks outside I would not have had an issue at all. However after being asked to leave (rudely and abruptly), the owner walked off and we were not offered to move outside of given any take away cups etc.
Very poor customer service and unfortunately will not be returning.
Reply: Thanks for your reply. No I totally appreciate that it I can be annoying for other customers and I am conscious of that - he does usually settle better so I apologise … however do you not think you could have taken the time to explain why you were asking us to leave and offer us to sit outside/ assist us? It is simply the way you went about it. Can I ask again - why was the other dog not asked to leave too? Also you have said I finished my food which I hadn’t I still had a fair bit of my bacon sandwich left which I had to takeaway and did not get to eat as trying to hold a dog, tea and bacon sandwich doesn’t...
Read moreOrdered a bacon and sausage sandwich (doubled up) and a basil, cheese and tomato toastie (had wanted a veggie sausage sandwich but they had none) for takeaway, as well as an americano and diet coke. No warning that we would be waiting 55 minutes for our food, and 35 minutes for our coffee and Diet Coke (which when it was brought over didn’t have the cap removed from the bottle). When the food eventually came there were 2 sausages and ONE rasher of bacon in the doubled up sandwich and no basil in the toastie, served with a handful of stale Dorito knock offs and the coffee is also disgusting. The staff were friendly but it is dishonest to not warn of a nearly hour wait for a takeaway order of two sandwiches. They brought over a complementary drink after half an hour (before bringing over the drinks we had actually ordered) but that does little to make up for the wait and rubbish food when it eventually came. Cannot advise against...
Read moreUpdate for October 2024 It opened in roughly mid-2022, changed its name in 2023, It states that the coffee served is roasted locally and it is just that, less than a 25-minute drive away, so you can't get the coffee any more freshly roasted. For my first visit the coffee was a flat white and a pain au chocolat. I can safely say that this is the best coffee I've had local to where I live for some time and I'm very much into my speciality coffee. I went Friday lunch time for my first visit and the place was packed. Price for coffee was about par for the course, needless to say I have come back a few more times since. It's just down the road from where I work so that's handy...
