Ordered 2 drinks, 2 paninis and 2 cakes for £31 during my visit last week. The hot chocolate was bland, it just tasted of warm milk and it was pale, evident of lack of chocolate - for £3.50 you have to do better. Half an hour had past and no paninis, the waitress who served us finally noticed and walked over to us and said “you ordered food didn’t you” she then began to look through the receipts and realised somehow they had forgotten to give my order to the kitchen, at which point she walked over to our table and said “I don’t think the chef has it, do you still want it?” No apology, nothing. 45 minutes later and two very sad paninis arrive without the balsamic mixed leaf as advertised on the menu. £31 to sit and wait 45 minutes for two very medicorce paninis with a bland hot chocolate is a shocker. The flapjack was very tasty. About the only thing they got right. Trying to support a local business during challenging times for us all. But this is the service you receive… I don’t think I’ll be visiting again unfortunately.

Lovely cafe in a lovely location on the canal side in Bollington. I had a BLT with chunky chips on the side and my wife had the soup of the day with focaccia. Our drinks came quite quickly and the food arrived not long afterwards, but we had ordered at a relatively quiet time. Friends joined us afterwards at peak time and their food took quite a while to arrive. It was lovely sitting outside and watching people cycle and walk down the tow path. The food was delicious and I heartily recommend the chips! Sitting inside would have been a little warmer and the inside of the cafe is nicely set out. I finished with another pot of tea and some cake which is 100% recommended - the Victoria sponge was delicious! The main part of the cafe is up a set of steps which I don't think had wheelchair access, so disabled users might need to sit outside. Ok that's fair enough in it Overall a good experience but perhaps avoid at the busiest times as the service was a little slow. Great food though!

The cafe is located just on the canal side and has outside seating. Inside is cosy and has a great atmosphere. We visit sometimes for a coffee and cake. There is often vegan cake available which is great. Today we had a vegan breakfast. We ordered an extra hash brown each and the portion didn’t blow us away to be honest, we had to ask for a proper piece of toast, as what we were brought to begin with was a small solid toasted crust. The staff did swap it out for bigger pieces of toast but unfortunately this had dairy butter on when they’ve brought it out, which we had to address again, as we have ordered a vegan meal. This was rectified by the manager in the end and a drink was taken off the bill for the hassle, which we appreciated. A coffee and cake is probably the best option here if you’re looking for something vegan and tasty, the full vegan breakfast not so much.

The owner doesn't seem to like criticism, so I'm going to respond to all his misinformation to my mums review, on this review. My mum complained about one thing on her review, but you brought up a load of things not mentioned, what an absolutely disgusting way to respond to a review. I came with my mum and her partner yesterday. It was me that asked if the smoothies were fresh after I was told they had ran out of the one I wanted. I am entitled to decide I don't want a frozen smoothie as opposed to a fresh!!! It’s your pregrogative to sell frozen smoothies and it’s my pregrogative to not want frozen. Your menu also states fresh orange juice, I asked if it was freshly squeezed, I was told it came from a carton, I therefore didn’t want it, again my pregrogative. No one had an argument, as a family we debated whether we were going to go for a walk first and then come back to eat as we had arrived there earlier than expected, or stay and eat at the time, that debate included me discussing with my family that I wouldn't be able too walk far. We are quite entitled to discuss when we sit down to eat and it has nothing to do with you, your staff or customers, so please don’t accuse us of arguing!!! I chose a table that was partly in the sun, the chair I sat at was already on the apparent driveway with 4 other chairs at the table, I sat in that chair so i had sun on my back, so please DON'T accuse us of moving one of your chairs!!! Regarding the jacket potato, my mum orders them regularly and never eats the skin as it doesn't agree with her. Funnily enough not everyone who eats baked potatoes eat the skin, contrary to your confusion!!! We asked for no spring onions, no mention of no sweetcorn. And yes when the sweetcorn arrived, it barely covered the bottom of the tiny pot it came in, and my mum showed it to the waitress at the time, but she did nothing. So with roughly a tablespoon of tuna and a teaspoon of sweetcorn, her partner gave her his. She had great difficulty getting the flesh out of the potato because it was a hassleback. Your reply to her was objectionable and totally incorrect, I suggest you get your facts straight before you accuse your customers. It seems you have a lot more to correct than your food and service!!!! I will give you another real complaint, your toilets are far from decent!

I see by your reply you are a nasty piece of work. We give lots of reviews on trip advisor, all good. Your cafe failed miserably, so try and accept it instead of throwing accusations and...

I've stopped here several times for a treat, mid hike, for tea and cake. The Baker makes the most fantastic cakes and scones. Unfortunately the owner is the most rude and arrogant man you could meet. Today I had to return my eagerly anticipated scone because it was clearly several days old and stale and served with rancid cream. The owner came over and told me he had tasted the scone and it was not stale, there was absolutely nothing wrong with it and that he would taste the cream for himself. He effectively called me a liar. He did not come back again to give his verdict on the cream. (enough said!) I have previously been served rancid cream here before but with a beautiful moist fresh scone. When I asked for fresh cream the waitress replaced the entire order much to my embarrassment as I hadn't complained about the scone, I had only wanted the cream replaced. On my next visit my friend and I were served with stale scones and we ate them and decided to hide our dissapointment and not comment. The following week we asked if the scones were freshly baked and were told they were not so I had a lovely piece of toffee and salted caramel cake instead. I won't be going back there after today's  experience. If you visit I would recommend you don't have the scone either. The Baker is wonderful, it's such a shame that the owner is Basil Fawlty...

We sat inside around 2:55, and when one of the many waitresses milling around came to take our order we asked for food only to be told that the kitchen had shut at 3 (it was 3:02). Annoying, but fine. We then decided to just have coffees and cakes and asked what cakes there were. The waitress, who was standing right in front of the cakes, quite rudely said ‘you’ll have to get up and look yourself’. We waited 20 minutes with no sign of coffees being made or cakes being cut (they had only taken one other order of coffees in the meantime). We finally heard the coffee machine going and saw some cakes being cut, but after another 5 minutes with no service we decided to leave, over half an hour after we’d arrived. I don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon.

Edit to respond to the stroppy response from the rude waitress: I’m surprised to hear there were 18 tickets in front of ours (are there even that many covers in the cafe?). Either way, no food or drinks seemed to leave the kitchen/coffee area the entire half an hour we were there. And of course we didn’t pay, we weren’t served anything! Sorry my X-Ray vision couldn’t see the prepared coffees and cakes hidden behind the counter…! Not sure why we weren’t served if our order was...
