Another top burger! I'd been meaning to have the 'On your knees Texas Pete' burger again for a while after I had it whilst hungover last time. I felt I'd enjoy it a bit more when I had a bigger appetite and felt less nauseous! And my intuition was right. It went down much better and was packed with tasty meat. It could be better though... The sauces were quite sparce (particularly the chilli jam) and not spread well so were mostly in the middle. I'm also not a big fan of the pretzel bun either. It's quite tough to get your teeth into and doesn't soak in any juices or sauce either. The brisket was delicious and had nice flavour, although I couldn't say any Dr Pepper flavour was noticeable from it. Definitely one of the best places for burgers in Warrington and I'll miss it when I move up to the northeast this month. Previous visit: Incredible burgers! I've had a few of the different offering from here over a few years and never been disappointed. The 'Tony Montana' though has topped the lot. Fantastic flavours from the sauces and a good amount of chorizo. The patties they use are delicious! The fries didn't add much to the burger really but were a nice gimmick and made the stack more impressive as well as messier. I also had the BBQ wings. A huge portion with a good covering of sauce. They were beautifully crisp but a little overcooked so the chicken was quite dry. One of the best places around for a burger and plenty of mouthwatering options. Another previous visit: Delicious 'Chick Norris' breakfast dish and nice tater tots. Top place with a great menu. Fantastic burgers but don't miss out on the boneless wings! Massive portion and they're bangin!

I recently saw a review on the Guardian about this little restaurant tucked away on one side of the Warrington Market. It said that they made some of the best burgers in town and I honestly could not wait to try it. Ordering on the Market's dedicated website was simple and quick and the only comment I have regarding this is that the onion was not shown in the list of ingredients (not a big fan of the Onion, but that's just me). Is there an option to ask for additions or changes on the app? The food was magnificent. The burgers and sauces just worked well together and I am honestly not disappointed. The Guardian had it spot on, this is a great burger at a decent price. The kids burger was great for the little ones too and a decent serving at a very competitive price. In summary, if you are in the mood for a good burger, conveniently served and leaving you planning your next visit, go to The Cafe at the End of the Universe. It's what Zaphod Beeblebrox would do.

This venue is inside of the recently redeveloped Warrington Market. It's purely American style food with a the twist that all dishes are named after films and actors. The food itself is really good with all of our party saying that they really enjoyed the food and would come and eat again. The waitress was really friendly and the food arrived within the time stated. The atmosphere is great as well. The venue is just one of a group of independent food and drink vendors with a street food vibe. Don't like American, try the Thai, or even the pizza. Cocktail with that? No, then have craft beer. The ordering system gives table service, but, you can order from any of the vendors. Not sure if it's on the same payment though. Combined with music this makes the whims place great for eating out either before or after visiting the cinema. The car park is also literally a stone's throw away too.

Customer Review for Café at the End of the Universe

Rating: ★☆☆

I recently had a horrifying experience at the Café at the End of the Universe after trying their beef burger. If you're diabetic with a high sensitivity to caffeine, heed my warning and stay far away from this dish! This is not just a bad meal; it could be a deadly one.

The burger tasted overwhelmingly like Dr. Pepper or Cherry Coke, which immediately sent red flags. Shortly after eating it, my blood sugar skyrocketed to levels I've never experienced before. I was left shaking uncontrollably, nearly passing out, and battling intense cluster headaches that robbed me of sleep for an entire week. My body was in a state of absolute chaos.

In a panic, I rushed to my doctor, only to discover the horrifying truth: the burger's extreme levels of sugar, salt, and caffeine had turned my blood into a thick, sticky mess. My essential mineral levels—magnesium, potassium, and zinc—plummeted, putting me at the brink of a diabetic coma. The physiological stress on my heart and arteries was so severe it was a ticking time bomb. It's not just unhealthy; it is lethally dangerous and can cause severe sickness just as I experienced.

This terrifying ordeal makes it abundantly clear that the café urgently needs to implement a clear warning system with color-coded indicators—red, orange, yellow, and green—to signal the levels of sugar, salt, and caffeine in their dishes. Customers deserve full transparency about what they're consuming to make informed and safe decisions.

But more than that, the café must take additional immediate actions to ensure the safety of all its patrons:

Detailed Nutritional Information: Providing comprehensive nutritional information on their menu, including carbohydrate content, added sugars, caffeine quantity, and other nutritional data, is non-negotiable. This transparency would empower customers to make life-saving decisions.

Special Diabetic-Friendly Options: The café should introduce a selection of diabetic-friendly menu items. These items need to be low in sugar and refined carbohydrates and high in fiber and essential nutrients, ensuring safer dining options for those with stringent dietary restrictions.

Staff Training: The staff must be trained to understand and accommodate special dietary needs. They should be able to provide detailed information about ingredients and allergens and suggest safe menu choices for customers with specific health concerns.

Customizable Meals: Offering customizable meals—for instance, allowing customers to exclude or substitute high-sugar or high-caffeine ingredients—can be a crucial step in providing safe dining options for all.

Never did I anticipate that treating myself to something new, based on popular buzz, would put my life in such peril. This experience was not just disappointing; it was a brush with disaster. I strongly caution anyone with similar health concerns to avoid this establishment until they make substantial changes to safeguard their customers.

Some tips for similar people to me

Always Ask Questions: When dining out, insist on detailed answers about ingredients and preparation methods. Your health depends on it.

Utilize Technology: Use apps and online tools to verify nutritional information and check the safety of restaurant offerings before you order.

Carry Essential Supplies: Always have your diabetes management tools with you, including a blood glucose meter, insulin, and fast-acting glucose tablets, to tackle unexpected spikes or drops.

Plan Ahead: Review restaurant menus online before visiting to identify safe options and avoid any surprises.

Join a Community: Engage with local or online groups of individuals with similar health conditions. Shared experiences and advice can be a lifesaver.

By taking these precautions and advocating for more responsible practices within the food industry, we can all work towards a safer dining experience...

Food is probably some of the best in Warrington.

Ordered early in the day. Cancelled and refunded at 17.30.

Issues occur not with their food, but when they don't open as planned or shut off their delivery due to busyness.

Edit: response to Cafe at the End of the Universe; Thank you for your response. I appreciate your time doing so, however, this is not my first review (always 5 stars on JustEat) and my review stands as accurate and completely fair and justified. I am a consistent, loyal and paying customer and my feedback is in line with my experiences.

I'm sorry you feel/think otherwise. But as a business you should discern from a customer's accurate review and what you 'think' about my review, which was fair and accurate from my point of view. You are addressing this one instance. I am addressing my issues over a long period of being your customer.

You run a fantastic business with a truly outstanding range of products. But this is not the first time you have done this to my order, it has been cancelled once before, and there have been many many times where I have not been able order at all due to presumed busyness. A testament to how sought after your produce is, but frustrating none the less.

I have stated how good your product is in my review. But your choice to use just eat even when you dislike it's service, is not a customers problem. Your staffing issues, are also not a customers problem (although I wish them a speedy recovery and a cracking and well deserved day off). I do appreciate you taking the time to advise of the issues and I empathise, but I am coming from a point of view of my problem with your business, not your problem with everything else.

To reconcile, I have amended and improved the score and some of the wording, but it will not be removed on request. And due to the critical nature of your response, you now have a wall of text to accompany it. Had you if just asked me to call you. We could have had an amicable conversation, minus the text battle. I am not at liberty to tell you my personal concerns and issues over a Google review (although I've written enough)

Overall score increased from 34 Service increased from 23 Atmosphere increased from 15

I may amend it to be, over all, more positive (5 stars across the board) in the near future, but that will depend on how my next 2-3 purchases with you fair, if my order is not cancelled, and if I can even order at all.

Furthermore I actually spent a good 48 hours leading up to this telling friends, family and co-workers how great your good and service is and how I was looking forward to treating my family to this takeaway. So to be let down in this fashion (after doing so) was highly disheartening and disappointing given that fact.

If you still want a chat, I'll...
