This restaurant customer service is seriously Awful. Starting with order, server asked to place all drinks, starter and main course item all at once and it wasn't closing hour of restaurant. First he brought our drinks out of which one drink was coca cola and it was flat, which was replaced, again the second coke was flat as well, upon asking why it's flat the server said it's from a can and he personally tasted the coke from the served glass... WTH, I drank from the glass to only be told that after when disputing the bill!?!
Secondly, we ordered Okra which was served raw as it wasn't cooked and asked the server to take it back and in a rush he drops the Dal on the floor and leaves it there until we have left. The server got frustrated and said I should tell him first and started arguing with us, that we shouldn't have ordered this item if we didn't like it (how in the world would I have known how it tastes from this restaurant and quality but yes we have eaten okra at multiple Indian restaurants in UK and not like this at all).
Thirdly, the chapati ordered on table was so cold that we again complained and the same rude server touches directly with his fingers and admits yes it was cold (where is the hygiene here without gloves, but fine chapati bread was replaced)
No servers were wearing face covering masks. And lastly, the bill: we ordered papadom and didn't order any chutney and guess what they charged extra for chutney beware of this scam on asking to check the bill the manager said it's inclusive (pls check the menu, he wasn't able to justify, in the end I paid the full amount).
Long story short I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to all for quality, standard, tatse of food and...
Read moreWe visited Cardamom Restaurant in Sandown (Isle of Wight) with family, but our experience was completely ruined by the manager's rude and arrogant behaviour.
We simply asked the server for tap water, which is standard and legally expected in restaurants across the UK. The server told us they don’t serve it — fine, we respected that and quietly began drinking from our own personal water bottles (which we had brought for our hotel stay).
That’s when the manager stormed over, and instead of handling the situation professionally, he said:
"We don’t allow people to drink their own water here. Either purchase drinks or leave." When we explained that tap water is usually offered freely in restaurants throughout the UK, his shocking response was:
"I’m the boss. This is my restaurant. My rules apply here, not UK rules." This kind of attitude was completely uncalled for. We had already placed our food order and were trying to be cooperative, so we agreed to buy water as requested. But the manager's lack of patience, aggressive tone, and total disregard for hospitality left a very sour taste — well before our food even arrived.
To add to the awkwardness, after we paid the bill, the manager came over and offered a half-hearted apology to one of my cousins. But by then, the damage was already done.
We were a peaceful, paying group just trying to enjoy a family dinner. Instead, we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome for something as basic as drinking water.
Not recommended at all. There are many better, more respectful places to eat — especially where basic courtesy and customer service...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant while on holiday on the isle of wight. We was apprehensive as the reviews are mixed and the restaurant only had 2 people dining when we arrived. We had a plesent welcome and were seated promptly, we ordered and the food arrived very fast. The lamb biryani had a good flavour, however was let down by the quality of the lamb this was a bit tough and chewy and not tender.
In addition we ordered a naan bread which was light and fluffy and a curry, the curry was very sour and had a very thick sauce, not to our taste.
We had previously been out walking and had two bottles of water with us, so rather than ordering drinks we thought we may as well drink these first. A while into our meal a member of staff came over and said sorry outside drinking its not allowed, if you don't buy drinks then what is the reason we are open?
If you want water we can give you water, so we said we will have two waters. Which never actually arrived for the remainder of our meal.
We didn't bother chasing these up and were made to feel like we couldn't drink from our water bottles.
This food is overall average but most definitely not authentic, and service started good but we were disappointed by the...
