Royal China — Restaurant in England

I dont really review places but… this needs to be known Weekend just passed 28th Aug

I was booked at the royal china.

Greeted by a very rude and sharp waiter.(ignored it)

Menu was just slapped on the table, and waiter walks away?!? (Ignored)

Waited 25mins before drink orders were finally taken and we placed food order at the same time to save time, which the waiter didn't seem happy to do!!?

Just felt like we were a burden for them(ignored)

Then walks in a large group of family with kids about 10-13 of them, happy and smiley Who informed they were there with a booking, to which the very rude and sharp waiter demanded they wait outside while their table is being prepared.

Meanwhile we are being ignored….

This large still surprising jolly group gets seated with menus thrown on the table.(glad we weren't the only ones)

Our drinks finally arrive! A whole 50mins in! And then waiter abruptly walks away! We are Now hoping food arrives!

10mins later. The waiter puts a pen and pad on table to one of the group member and tells him to write down the group order. Another 8-10mins later One of the lady from this large group asks for a drink and even i could see from a distance as she points to her child holding his medication that if they could order a drink.

To my surprise, the waiter puts his hands up and says this is not my problem.

A moment later i hear the waiter shouting if, you dont like it then leave while he is walking away. The group was really annoyed and stood to leave, and the waiter shouted as they were leaving “your behaving like slaves, i will call the police, just leave”.

In this large group was a mix of white/black/Asian/indian and interracial kids.

I could not believe i was witnessing this in 2021 First my treatment and now this group.

We decided to leave the cash for the drinks on the table cancelled the food order and left in disgust!

Not standing for what was clearly a racially discriminating, abusive and insensitive behaviour shouted at family and children amongst guests of the establishment.

Hats off to that group for walking away and i have seen their reviews here.

You are not alone !

I stand firm in equality and behaviour like the waiters/possibly owner? above is what poisons our societies.

Pick another place… don't let this ruin your isle of Whyte experience.

Everywhere else was Great! Especially the donuts...

We booked this restaurant for a meal for 12 people two weeks before we came and was very excited to come and enjoy a meal on our holiday in the Isle of Wight. When we arrived the table was not ready and the manager asked us to wait in the street while he set up, despite us being on time for the booking. He was very rude and abrupt when he did this. My ten year old autistic son was feeling unwell with a head ache and had low blood sugar. I had a paracetemol for him to take so my partner asked for a glass of water for him to take the medicine with while we waited. Again, the man who we spoke to was incredibly rude and told us our sons headache "was not his problem".

We were finally sat down and so again I asked for a drink for my son. I approached the bar to ask for this as we had not yet been offered any service. I was told to sit down and they would not take an individual order. I agreed but stressed again my child needed a drink soon as he was visibly unwell.

After a while a waiter came over and asked to take drink orders. My party were all concerned for my son and so asked for a drink for him first and said they would order in a moment. The waiter was clearly annoyed but brought us a drink for us.

My friends were saying how rude the staff were when the manager began shouting at us there's the door. There's the door. He was so aggravated he knocked over a vase of flowers in his own restaurant. We were astounded. As we got ready to leave another waiter came over to me and very aggressively told me to pay for the drink for my son that he had not actually yet been able to drink. I replied that of course I would pay for it, even as the rest of my party was being ushered out aggressively. As I tried to go and pay for the drink the manager was screaming at me to leave else he would phone the police....

I have never ever experienced anything like this kind of treatment and we were truly disappointed and dishevelled. Thankfully it forced us to walk further down the road towards the beach where we found a beautiful restaurant called The Reef who accommodated us with smiles and true hospitality.

Unfortunately I feel like the main problem here was that several members of our party were of colour and instantly the manager didn't want to accommodate us. Truly disappointed at the lack of human decency...

Booked a table of 10+ with children..... Table was not ready and told to wait outside... We also had a child who had low blood sugar so just asked for a drink.. Immediately we were greeted with hostility and the feeling of not being wanted... We were a mixed group and had such a great day.... The waiter gave us a pen and paper to write out order but all we wanted was a quick coke for the kid..... As we were still waiting for some time we asked the manager and told him about the child where he responded.. Not my problem and refused to serve us mainly because of our group size..... We do feel racially profiled and discriminated due to the group size... It's a busy weekend and we were left getting chips of the pier by better service especially for the children... These guys have no respect for customer service or standards... These guys cannot cope and could have just said we cannot cater for you but instead left a disgusting taste in our experience to the Isle of Wight due to this business.... Everywhere else has been excellent apart from the Royal China... Lastly... Because we complained to the manager about his behaviour he forced us out and shouted and these kids were left scared... I'm appauled by this company and will take it further to the trading standards these guys do not deserve customers and need a training course or shut downs... The place also needs improvement on standards... My group of 13 will be leaving their experience in due course... I recommend the reef or ocean deck who will do anything for your...
