Extremely dissapointed... I do not normally complain about food or restaurants, actually this is my first review about a restaurant. They ruined our Valentine's day, I could not even wait until tomorrow to leave this review. This is the first and will be the last oder from this restaurant. We have ordered the Valentine's box for 2 takeaway - £29.95 per person - complete waste of money!, and I can’t tell how dissapointed we both are. I will start with the main thing that dissapointed us after we opened the box - the food was already cooked and ready from the fridge that we had to REHEAT. Reheated food for this price? Our expectations were that they would cook fresh food on the same day and we would just have to finish the cooking at home, but not to reheat food from the fridge that who knows when was cooked. Their menu says "finish at home" not "reheat at home". We could've just bought ready meals from the supermarket...Now the starter - the fennel, red onion & beetroot salad was tasteless, basically it had no dressing, but we said ok, no problem, we can add some lemon juice to add taste, then I found a shell in the crab and crayfish cocktail, but again, this is not such a big problem, I am just trying to point out that for this price, the food should've been perfect! Then the main dish, the steak, no comment here, absolutely tasteless, very small, and half of it was fat, it had no salt and pepper, ok, I suppose the peppercorn sauce was meant to give it some taste, but the watery something beige which I guess it was supposed to be the peppercorn sauce, was tasteless too, it had no pepper flavour, and I did no see any pepper flakes there, or, if this was supposed to be some gravy?, I don't know, it was completely tasteless and flavourless. The goats cheese tart was tasty, but the rocket salad that came with it was wilted, same as the mint leaves on the chocolate mousse. All that I mentioned above would not be a problem but for this price our expectations were much higher, could they at least bother to use fresher mint and rocket salad? Again, we are not spoiled or something, we love many local restaurants that charge much less and the food is delicious and the portions are much bigger, but at this restaurant, all that came in this box...

We had our dinner with friends last weekend. We were hoping to enjoy the outdoor seating but due to the weather we had to stay indoors. When we booked our table we asked to be seated kin the corner in case it’s gonna be indoor due to our son having special needs and they granted our request. We were served and the staff were brilliant. Unfortunately the noise was a bit too much for our boy and he was dysregulated couple of times. We asked if we can move table and they were so accommodating to our request! They prepared a table for us in their gazebo area and only us were in there. Our son enjoyed his dinner (he was loving the steak so much!) and he was so happy after we moved. It started a bit stressful but it turned out to be great and we all enjoyed our dinner! We couldn’t recommend more! They are all amazing and very understanding including the couple who was sitting next to us. And to the chef who made an effort to create a fab plate of fruit arrangement, we really appreciate you and our boy finished it all! (Will attach the photo) We always wish to have this kind of service in every restaurant we go! You are...

With a booking of 20+ people you would think that they would want to impress! First impression spilling 3 glassess of champagne over the organiser!

The starters were okay. The mains [christmas menu] were smaller than the starter. So much so that we were expecting additional vegetables to come out to bulk out the meal and validate the price point; but no. I've never seen such small a serving of turkey (must be a great chef to carve such a smllall serving). In addition to the postage stamp turkey was one miniature carrot (at best), one tiny parsnip (at best) and a pig in blanket. At least we had a tiny portion of Christmas pudding that was luke warm with moderately warm custard to follow! Disgrace!

Unless you are from Lilliput and have money to burn - DO NOT GO HERE! An absolute rip off; cannot belive they have the balls to serve what they did, let alone for the...

I can't recommend Chalk more highly! The food is incredible. Make sure you save some space for one of their yummy puddings. I have an allium allergy (onion, garlic, spring onion, shallots and chives, etc) and I know that this is a really difficult allergy for a restaurant to accommodate, but I have now eaten at Chalk 3 times and the chef has been able to adapt 3 different items on the menu to accommodate my allergy and all 3 meals have been full of flavour (which is usually the compromise when I eat out, I'm offered anything plain). The attitude towards my allergy at Chalk has always been so friendly and reassuring and I have never been made to feel 'difficult', which can happen in other restaurants. The staff are fantastic - attentive and thoughtful. Chalk has quickly become my go to place to have a really good quality, tasty meal, whilst catching up with my friends.

A beautiful neighbourhood restaurant and bar with a large outdoor seating area. It’s elegant, charming and relaxed and, the perfect spot for Sunday brunch or for a casual dinner or a relaxing evening with friends. A very busy place but staff cope well and service is good. The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, while the bar boasts an impressive array of signature cocktails, and fine wines. TRY : Full English with smoked streaky bacon, Cumberland sausage, house baked beans, roast plum tomato, mushrooms, eggs of your choice and sourdough toast OR Sauteed Corn Beef Hash with fried eggs, truffle oil and sourdough toast My top 5 places to eat and drink in Wokingham https://www.tartanspoon.co.uk/home/5-restaurants-wokingham
