Let me say first the food was superb, the faults lay with the staff. Seated in the new section lacked atmosphere and needed either the windows/doors open if no air con as it was very stuffy and smelly. Order placed & drinks arrived after easily 15 minutes. The sparkling water was so warm you could have bathed a baby in it. We asked for ice twice and it never arrived. The food similarly arrived very slowly and once finished the dirty plates stayed on the table for 20 minutes only then cleared and main cutlery placed. Again meal finished and you are left with dirty plates again for over 20 minutes by this point we all wanted to leave. Requesting the bill, now this is an undertaking as now all staff have disappeared, just when I was about to go to the bar and ask for the bill a server arrives, a young tall fairhaired boy and we asked him for the bill. The bill arrived and due to the length of time for anything to happen we asked for the payment terminal which the server went to get. After much discussion with another server, they both then looked back at our table and laughed. Hmmm, why was this? Just a laugh with a fellow work mate or something aimed at our table? I can't say but we all felt extremely uncomfortable. Having been to Bombay Story over a dozen times this service or lack thereof is something we have never experienced. It has really questioned our desire to return after such very poor service from the staff.

If had not been Fathers Day & my elderly father being present I would have requested the mandatory 12.5% tip to be removed as the level of service from the front of house staff...

Bombay Story, I came and I had my own Bombay Story.

I got welcomed by Prayrak, a very friendly and respectful man. As you ever the door, you feel like you have stepped in to another place. I was welcomed and brought to table and brought the menu.

Whoever designed the menu, really wanted it to be 110% authentic and that is achieved.

The vegan options is what I came for and that was no disappointment. The poppadoms with the chutneys, once that taste hit time stopped. But everything around was still moving. My mind was on another level due to the flavors. I had the curry and that was exceptional, with the Chef being a Magician to make such a dish. The breads were authentic and just the accompaniment to the curry.

Then I ordered the cardamom rose latte. It looked so good, that it looked like the man that made it mastered his technique. That flavor was smooth and balanced. I saw the place 10/10 I got welcomed and everything was authentic 20/10 The overall rating 100/10, well above and it feels like thousands of generations have passed down their skills and this team and brought it to the customer.

When it is said "Today India is brought to you", it is literal and true.

The best restaurant I have been to in my life. I have grew up in Indian communities , so the quinine I know so well. But then this team takes authenticity to the 100's

They make every customer feel liked they an honored guest. With it being mutual that the customer tells the staff how honored they are for what they have created.

I came for a meal, but "Blessed" with an experience.

To all the Staff "I am very Thankful...

I booked the Bombay Story restaurant for my husband's birthday meal on the 6th June 2025. From booking over the phone to leaving after our meal, the service was excellent. I would give 11/10 if that was possible.

The attention and welcome was second to none. We both thoroughly enjoyed our starter a cold chicken dish with yogurt and pomegranate seeds, it tasted divine and looked amazing. We had different mains, a few vegetable sides and were both extremely happy. They even gave my husband a card, cake and glass of fizz after our meal. Such a special touch to an already beautiful evening. As my husband does not like to be the centre of attention, he didn't want Happy birthday to be sang in such a public place and this wish was respected. We were both extremely touched and felt we booked the right venue for the occasion.

As I had my back to the restaurant, I hadn't realised how busy it had become since being seated. However, this did not affect either the quality of the service or the noise levels. We were able to talk freely without being disturbed.

It is not a cheap place, but the experience, hospitality and food is worth every penny. To Josh and the entire team, we extend a wholehearted THANK YOU!!!! Every single member of staff was warm, courteous and nothing was too much trouble.

I have since returned with a few friends a few days later, once again we were all extremely happy with our meal. A massive thank you to all of you. Keep up the excellent service, food and hospitality, It is very much...

Great experience, this was my first cookery class at Bombay Story and it couldn't have been better. We cooked a total of 3 dishes- Chicken Tikka, Papadi Chat, and veg somosa. With the chefs taking us through step by step, suggesting alternative ingredients and methods to get us thinking of practical ways to incorporate our new skills when back at home, and just sharing their skills and experience in a really enthusiastic and excited way- it made us feel at home in the kitchen and showed the passion the team have for passing on their knowledge. After the cooking we sat down and tried out dishes (washed down with a complementary drink- cobra for me!) And had the chance to ask further questions. And at the end of it we were given a butter chicken and rice to take home with us. The team even mixed things up by catering to the dietary needs of the group- showing how the tikka process could be applied to Paneer and whipping up gluten free versions of the papadi and samosas so that no one felt left out. My only complaint is that there are no more dates on the calendar- I would go back in a heartbeat and will be trying to make sure I get to as many as possible, especially as they are doing different dishes each time! The whole team were incredible with from the kitchen to front of house- we were welcomed and accommodated in every way- a outstanding experience. Highly recommended 👌

Great find in Wokingham! Staff were great, friendly with perfect recommendations. The curry has just the amount of heat I like. Naan was tasty and I also tried the Pistachio Tiramisu, it was a great take, not too sweet. Had the Bombay apple sour, nicely balanced. Great place for Indian with a tasty cocktail.

I recently visited Bombay Story Restaurant in Wokingham and had a pleasant dining experience overall. The food, service, and ambiance were definitely highlights. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and there’s ample parking available just a short distance away, which adds a layer of convenience and peace of mind. We tried the Avocado Chaat as a starter, and I cannot recommend this dish enough! It’s an absolute flavor explosion that activates all your taste buds – a definite 10/10! On the other hand, the Chicken NH19 was good, with well-cooked chicken, but there was a slight sense of incompleteness to the dish that left me wanting more balance in flavor. At the price it’s offered, I’d rate it 8/10. Speaking of pricing, Bombay Story Restaurant is on the more expensive side compared to other dine-ins. The heavy service charge added to the bill made me reconsider the overall value for money. I also feel the menu could use more variety, which would make the dining experience even better. However, the staff's hospitality stood out – they were incredibly polite and attentive, which made the visit worthwhile. I’d definitely consider returning, especially to enjoy their impeccable service and try something different on the menu. In summary, a great place to visit if you’re in the mood for a unique dining experience. Just be prepared for slightly higher prices.
