The family had a wonderful Sunday lunch here on a dull, wet day. We had reserved a table for seven: 5 adults, one five-year-old and a baby. This is easily done online or by phone. The grill is on one level and easily accessible. You receive a warm welcome and the service is efficient and friendly. The décor and furnishings provide a warm, comfortable South American ambiance which is very relaxing. Both the drinks and food menus are good. My wife and I enjoyed crisp, refreshing sauvignon blanc, the others had non-alcoholic cocktails beautifully presented, colourful and tasty. My grandson had one and absolutely loved it! Lunch is served from noon until five at a competitive £15.95. The evenings meal will cost getting on for double this. Children under five go free, 5 to 8-year olds pay £7 and 9 to 12 eat for £12. I felt this was a sensible pricing regime. The menu is very meat-based but there are alternatives for vegetarians and vegans. You collect your own salads and hot/cold sides from the salad bar. There is an excellent choice and everything looks fresh and appealing. The tastes do not disappoint. You return to your seat and turn your place-mat over from red to green and the meat soon arrives. It is delicious and varied and fun to watch it being cut and served by friendly waiters. Be warned to pace yourself. Don’t have too much too soon. There are pork sausages, ribs and loins, sirloin, chilli beef, steak with cheese, chicken pieces, lamb and garlic bread. The meat is cooked to your requirements, delivered piping hot and is extremely tasty having been cooked in delicious marinades. I didn’t think it was my thing but I loved it. My wife and I soon surrendered and our place mats went back to red. The others continued to impress and my son in law, a goliath of a man with a craving for meat, was clearly in heaven. You really can eat all you can but can’t if you get my meaning.
I admit to overindulging by ordering the crème caramel and crumble dessert but it was superb. The others chose the equally wonderful chocolate desserts.
The bill was settled and it was then out into the Beverley rain. The bill came in at about £133 for the six eaters – a very fair price for a most enjoyable meal. It may not be to everyone’s taste but we thoroughly enjoyed it and...
Read moreWell to be honest, we have had much nicer meals @ traditional resturants , but i must admit this is a very nich experiance & one that will take a while for us to go again WHY ... well first of all Before i say anything else the staff are very attentive & polite & meat server was humerouse .. now il be very to the point .. . The salad bar was very good like being on a cruise ship , lots of items / then the Meats came & out of all of them the chicken & lamb was the best as was the Galic bread to die for & pineapple and the glazed pork .. all others were fatty red and chewy.. we were asked how we prefered the meats .. we said medium to well done and well done ... but unfortunatley that seemed to be a pointless question , as the meat looks well done till it was sliced then the blood just ran out like rare & wife refused it .. yuk . Yes its a all you can eat place ,, but to be honest quality to us is far better than quantity ,, we came as we had a voucher .. most places that would have being enough to pay. but we did expected to pay slightly more .. but NOT the extorsionate bill we got .. i know things have gone up but the real annoying bit is the service charge added to bill & £9 for glass wine . crikey .. anyway this was a one off experiance and overall we enjoyed it ( sort of ) but to be totally honest even if won lottery i think country pub grub for me .. sorry but this was a novelty not to be repeated . and also for a afternoon lunch was much overpriced .. YES i know we could have said something at the time but we are polite shy english type and dont make a fuss .. . best bit was short walk to M&S to buy some quality food for tea :) wish chamas all best but need to sort out the service charge thing and the fatty rare meats .. & then may return !! WE must remember this is Beverley Not...
Read moreCame here as a couple for a birthday celebration on a Saturday night and were not disappointed. (Also worth noting if you visit on your actual birthday and let them know on booking they sing and bring a free cocktail with a sparkler in it for the birthday person). We used the automated booking service to reserve our table which was really quick and easy to use (it logs your phone number not name, so give the last 3 digits as reference when you arrive). The restaurant is quite big but there are a lot of tables arranged in the space so it was very busy. On arrival I was worried it'd feel crammed but when we sat down it was fine. You pay a set price per head and have unlimited access to the buffet bar which has all sorts of salads, vegetables and some hot dishes like meatballs, Stew, rice, potatoes at the end. There are red/green discs which indicate to the floor staff if you want more food. The loor staff walk round with freshly cooked cuts of meats which they slice and serve for you at the table. The food was sublime - we samples a lot of different meats and all were excellent. They have a brilliant drinks menu too with cocktails and plenty of wines, beers and spirits (didn't notice what was on the soft drinks selection, sorry tee-totalers!). Service is quick, the place is immaculate and the overall experience was brilliant. Would recommend and would visit again. I can see why it's rated #1 in Beverly on...
