Attended a charity dinner last Saturday that introduced some dishes from the new menu. Excellent event, well organised and very friendly. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a drink and some food so I feel we shall be heading back after the full menu is introduced.
The food was all well presented and tasty in decent portions. The ceviche was the hit of the night with a good balance of flavours and just the right temperature. The butternut squash soup was fab with tons of chilli fire. We followed with the carne-con-chilli and the pulled pork. Both were well cooked and the chilli was medium spicy. Somehow we missed the sauce for the pulled pork but got some hot sauce on a plate that helped the flavour. Also added some to the chilli.
The only negative really was that all the dishes bar the ceviche were under seasoned. I managed to get some salt and pepper and that helped the flavours but nothing beats getting it right in cooking.
We finished off with a fab brownie.
Altogether a great night for a worthy cause. Well done Monks Walk and The...

We visited on a Sunday evening of the bank holiday weekend, it was fairly busy, we had not booked but we were accommodated. The COVID precautions were excellent. Well monitored and we felt safe.
The staff took our names and contact details, also they informed us how to purchase the drinks. We downloaded the app as we were shown to our seat. The app is straight forward to use, but I did struggle to find the drinks, we wanted, but this was probably down to me not knowing the app rather than the app itself. My only gripe about it is the fact you have to input the payment method each time you order. It can be synced to Google pay however I don't use that.
The staff were all very professional and looked smart in their face coverings With the pub logo on, also the shirts branded had the logo on.
Overall a great little pub as it used to always be, that has adapted to the current climate extremely well, will I visit again and recommend...
Read moreSet in a historic location within close proximity to the Beverley minster on Highgate (one of the oldest roads in Beverley), the Monks Walk dates back to the 13th century.
You can enter the Monks Walk from the front entrance on Highgate or via the courtyard on eastgate. Upon entry to the pub you are greeted with its old world passageway, medieval timber framed structure and most important of all; great atmosphere.
Stocks all the 'well known' beers you would expect, plus a good range of real ale, craft beer & cider, they often have an Atom ale on tap which never disappoint. The staff are always friendly and accommodating.
Highly recommend monks walk to anyone wanting an authentic beer in a well...
