Charlie’s is an inviting cafe with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The decor is simple and uncluttered, with lots of natural light streaming in through the windows for the front tables. The further back you go, there is no windows so it’s not as bright. It can be a squash and squeeze getting between some of the tables. There are plenty of comfortable seating options, both indoors and outdoors.
Food: Charlies cafe offers a wide variety of traditional English dishes, coffee drinks, as well as tea and a popular ice cream selection. I tried their standard English breakfast , which was delicious and perfectly made.
Service: The service at Charlie’s Cafe is excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they always make you feel welcome.
Overall: Charlie’s Cafe is a great place to go for a cup of coffee, breakfast or lunch. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great cafe experience.
Here are some additional details about my experience at Charlie’s Cafe:
I visited Charlies Cafe on a Sunday afternoon. It was a bit crowded, but the wait was not too long. I ordered an English breakfast which was delicious. Bacon, sausage, egg, beans, tomatoes and mega thick bread. Had to pay extra for crunchy hash browns. There was plenty of food and I failed to eat the whole meal. The service was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, I had a great experience at Charlies Cafe. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great...
Read morePleasant, attentive staff. Reasonably popular with a warm atmosphere with plenty of tables and chairs. Something of a wait after the first plate was served before the second plate arrived, then a final wait for the third plate to arrive.
Chicken & Mushroom Omelette with a baked potato side. The omelette very well filled and a generous size. Light and delicious and pairs very well with a small jacket potato which had a soft and smooth texture with optional butter. Sauces for the omelette were offered, but I declined.
Soup & Roll. The soup had a good temperature, not too hot to eat right away (or when the rest of the table had been served). A good amount with a soft roll and butter.
Roast Beef & Fried Onions sandwich on brown bread. The sandwich was huge! Wonderfully soft, thick cut bread with a good flavour and seed topping. A lot of beef with a good amount of onions.
The lemon drizzle slice had a very punchy lemon flavour with a layer of lemon within the sponge.
The chocolate orange cake was moist with a thick layer of chocolate ganache and chocolate orange pieces on top.
Cappuccino was too milky for our liking, but a good temperature.
The overall experience was very good. Good food and a...
Read moreBasic greasy spoon so didn’t expect much. But ordered the food (big breakfast) with a coffee paid extra for hash browns not to fussed about. The “big breakfast” its self was underwhelming not what I expected from the title, Coffee tasted like it was made the day before so I asked for it to be taken away. Not asked if everything was ok just took away to the kitchen. Then the food came. Hash browns were like stone wildly over done. So I asked if they could be taken back. With abit of attitude they were taken away. Next lot of hash browns I took a bite and were still frozen in the middle so I got them taken back. By this point we were the talk of the kitchen because everyone leaving the kitchen would look at us smirking or a dismissive look. And by the third lot of hash browns (the same hashbrowns that I had took a bite of and sent back) they were dropped on the table no “sorry for the mistake” or “enjoy your meal” just chucked on the table and walked away. By this point we’d had enough and walked out no thankyou for coming have a nice day just snarled. As we left. I understand mistakes are made but if it takes you 3 poor attempts to make simple freezer hashbrowns then maybe they shouldn’t...
