Visiting Bollington and saw review for this restaurant. Decided as it was our last night and the fact that reviews were great to try it out. Upon arriving restaurant looked full which was a good sign. Walked in asked for a table and was asked if we had reservation. We didn't but were quickly pointed to a table. Waitress arrived promptly and was polite and attentitive. Ordered our starters then the gentleman who had seated us presumably the owner asked us to order our main as their kitchen was closing (it was 8.39pm!). We quickly ordered lamb shawarma and chicken shawarma and were asked if we want both starter and main, I replied whichever is easier. Both arrived with 10 minutes. I've eaten many Lebanese and Syrian food and this was my worst experience ever. Lamb shawarma was dry, blitzed in the oven with hardly any seasoning, chewy and meaty. The chicken shawarma was a little more flavourfull but still lacked authentic seasonings (my wife pointed out that the olives and pickles were the best part of the meal). I also noticed that the other diners were being treated with more hospitality. We felt discomfortable not by the other customers as they were having a great time so we ate what we could and I waited for the waitress. No one around as the restaurant was busy so I went to look for the waitress, found her in the kitchen and quickly asked for bill. Once again the male from the beginning said abruptly he is coming. I sat back in my chair and within a minute the waitress and male came to the adjacent table with a cake as it was the individuals birthday after which the waitress got our bill. I didn't even look at it just gave my card and got out of there quick as possible. Although beautifully decorated this is nowhere near the shawarmas in London. Goodies Supermarket has the best shawarma. And Lebanese food Sky Beirut, Bebel Grill House are 2 of my favourites not to.mention Arnabeet, truly Syrian food. Absolute shame really as all the other eating places were...
Read moreMyself and my boyfriend visited over the weekend for the second time as a Valentines date night. We couldn't wait to come back after our first visit in November 2021 which we really enjoyed. Our table was booked for 8pm and upon arriving it took a good few minutes for us to be addressed by a waitress who asked if we had a booking and then just pointed to our table. We placed our drinks order and they shortly arrived however it wasn't until 35 minutes after sitting down that we had our food order taken. Our starters arrived fairly quickly and were delicious, no issues there. Our plates were cleared and we then had another lengthy wait until our main course arrived, noticing that the table of 4 next to us received their main course first despite ordering some time after us. Again the food was beautiful and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We had our plates cleared and asked for the bill, 15 minutes passed and there was no sign so I went to see where it was as we had other places to be, only to find all the waitress/waiters stood about in the back, I again asked for the bill and to pay and sorted this with the same waitress I had asked for the bill previously.
For such a lovely and small restaurant with some of the best food I have had, we have found that on both of our visits the service massively lets the place down. All but I would say two of the staff were no older than 20, I feel some better training would benefit massively in both skills as a waitress/waiter and knowledge of the menu/restaurant itself, as I know we were not the only ones with this same opinion. We will definitely visit again, but this time hope that better service accompanies the...
Read morePlaced an order on just eat at 8.10pm on saturday. The time came through from just eat as delivery at 9.10pm. As it is a Saturday we accepted this as not too long a wait. Then we got a message from Just eat saying the time had been changed by the restaurant and would be delivered at 9.40pm. This is an hour and a half after we ordered it. I phoned the restaurant up and asked them why it was going to take an hour and a half and they explained they were very busy and there was nothing they could do about this. I understood that but asked to cancel the order as they had not started cooking ours yet. We didn't want to wait an hour and a half, and we didnt feel we should wait that long. When i asked to cancel the order they said that i would have to ring just eat as it was not their problem. I didnt want to call just eat, i just wanted to cancel the order, due to the amount of time it would take to be delivered. The gentleman on the phone then said 'do not order from us again' and put the phone down on me. 10 mins later just eat rang me to ask why i had cancelled the order. i explained everything to the lady and she agreed that waiting for that long is too long and because they hadnt started cooking the food yet, that cancelling was a valid thing to do. i then told her about the way the gentleman had spoken to me on the phone and she was deeply apologetic. I use Just Eat a lot and will continue to use them but i will NOT be ordering from...
