Really great pub, how pubs should be. Buzzing with people from all ages. At least 6 real ales on hand pump, maybe more. Lots of wood in this old pub but not dated at all. They won pub of the year and that's not surprising. The very friendly landlady and barman were very industrious. Quick service with a smile and every spare moment running round and clearing tables and collecting glasses. Never stopped but were smiling and laughing the whole time. Never tried the food but going in tomorrow to try it. Our favourite pub in Harrogate. Update. Tried the sausage n mash. Spot on, possibly the best I've had. Wife was impressed as well.

Casta thinks we came here about 10 years ago? Anyway, Jorvic likes this well fettled pub opposite the West Park. Good choice of local beers. I had the locally brewed Daleside Blonde. Five real ales on handpump out of six max on our visit. Another Cask Marque pub. Upstair area for dining. Downstairs for both drinking and eating. ( HARTLEPOOL HADDOCK!, didn't know they still had a fishing fleet.)

Pretty busy little place, clearly full of locals which is great. However, as a female I struggled to get served by the female bar staff who specifically chose to ignore me and serve local men instead. How very disappointing indeed. We stayed for one drink only even though we had liked the place 😳

This was possibly one of the worst meals of my life. Something was clearly very wrong in the kitchen. Our salads and chips took forever and the very loud fire alarm went off three different times while we waited. We noticed other people on the restaurant being served very sporadically. Finally, we had to ask about why we were still waiting for two basic salads and chips. When the entree salads came out, which turned out to be two bowls of mixed greens in oil, one with a pieces of cheese and cold pita bread, the other with a piece of chicken on top. Did not match the menu descriptions, at all. The chips we missing truffle oil. Paid nearly £40 each for something we could’ve made faster and cheaper if we’d walked to the grocery store, bought all the ingredients, and walked back home to make them ourselves. Will not...

The food was fine but the service was poor on the Saturday lunchtime about 12 of us visited. Mainly because I asked if they could prepare and bring my 1 year old son’s food out first, because it would take some time to cool down and infants aren’t known for being patient. Wait staff agreed but then brought it out last, a good 15+ minutes after others had received their mains. Even if the instruction was forgotten, I don’t understand why they would prepare a child’s meal last, seems pretty careless to me. After they brought the meals out they disappeared entirely, no offers of condiments, I had to go up and wait at the empty bar for someone to appear. Plenty of us were having chips, burgers etc so this also should have been obvious. Seemed like they were not...

We visited Harrogate at the weekend, popped in coach for food !! Big mistake I ordered chicken sandwich with gravy the chicken was processed meat not proper chicken breast, I didn't receive my jug of gravy so had to ask I received about 10 mins later it was burnt how do burn gravy ?? I tasted the burning taste after pouring on my plate and so did my husband who ordered pie with chips ( triple cooked chips ) they weren't they were frozen chips his pie was burnt and hard to cut so poured in my gravy so both meals were ruined don't put in menu proper chicken proper chips when that's not what you serve and it wasn't cheap either which I don't mind at all if good is worth it unfortunately in this case it wasn't safe to say we not be returning next time we visit...
