Pitcher & Piano Harrogate — Restaurant in England

We had a booking when arrived no-one to great us ignored by all staff, asked where we should sit we were put on a bench seat at a window table, not very safe for a five year old as it proved later when he fell backwards off the bench and smacked his head on the wall! I had mentioned in the booking we had children. There were two waitresses running around trying to look after everyone and behind the bar making drinks who look like the manager. We waited 1-hour for two starters a garlic bread side and a portion of halloumi fries, in between this people have walked out as they waited too long for their food. I understand when places are busy but it didn't seem exceptionally busy no one came at any point to tell us that our food was going to be so long, when you have children with you who are quite hungry and not very patient this is a big deal. We arrived a little earlier than our booking which is fine we got seated right away, the staff were super friendly and helpful however you could see they are understaffed and under alot of strain, had they had a couple more pairs of hands the service would have been better we had to wait a long time to be able to order food, that being said they did apologise about the wait. Food was great! Again there was one member of staff in particular all though was running around like a headless chicken he was delightful and constantly smiling! He even gave my son a lollipop (he asked me first) which was just very kind. I used to come here alot with my parents as a child but hadn't been in about 15+ years we were just passing through Harrogate and it brought back alot of memory the decor is lovely much better than it used to be and just in general a nice and affordable place to eat which can be difficult to find in Harrogate.

Enjoyed another visit to Pitcher & Piano. We find the staff welcoming, friendly and efficient. Rachel is a definite asset to the business- extremely likeable, swift moving and organised, her attention is on all covers but she finds time to check everything is fine and also quick to notice a raised hand or maybe another drink? We sat near to a lady who was deaf and who we discovered had recently lost her husband. She told us how they used to have meals there and now she goes and imagines him sitting across from her. She also mentioned (and although able to articulate one had to concentrate fully to understand), that Rachel and team were always so kind and accommodating to them and now to her.
