It is with some sadness that I feel I need to write this review. We were two couples who seriously enjoy our food and have eaten a number of Sunday lunches which have been quite excellent however on Saturday evening 25th March I'd booked a table for 1700hrs just as the restaurant opened. two of our group had the blade of beef which was good. Two of us however decided to have the 21 day Himalayan salty aged medallions of beef. What we encountered was beef that would have been better used as shoe leather rather than be served as fare. Both meals were absolutely awful and the cut of meat could not be cut with the sharp steak knives provided. I called the delightful young waitress over, explained as politely as I could how my endeavours to cut the medallions had failed. She apologised and took the meals away. Not one of the senior staff or even the chef bothered to come and ask why we were disappointed. A restaurant living on its past reputation. I would not recommend it ever again, especially to those elderly clients with...
Read moreEnjoyed our 2 course meal and waitress excellent very friendly and attentive. My partner mentioned the steak being a bit fatty to the waiter at the and end of our meal he immediately acted by questioning us if the waitress had asked if everything was OK we weren't sure about this with the main course. This became a discussion and he immediately went away and told the waitress then he returned to tell us. We found this upsetting the waitress had done her job well and it was only at the end of the meal I was found the steak fatty. We got the full run down of how he wanted the food to be right and staff friendly etc my partner kept his voice down and calm but the waiter over reacted to the point all customers heard. The bill was reduced and a sweet course provided by the chef. We at this point needed to leave as what was supposed to be a memorable evening meal became awkward and upsetting. Thankyou to the waitresses you were exceptional the food good but please tone it down Head waiter we did not want to be made a spectacal of neither did...
Read moreTl;dr: Not bad, but don’t get the beef. I went to the Tannin level for dinner with friends. The atmosphere was good, warm and a hum of chatter, without being too load. The service was good too; the staff were attentive despite clearly being very busy. The food was mixed. I had the ox cheek to start, which was extremely tender but perhaps lacked some flavour (that’s probably nitpicking though). I shared the pork trio and the beef with my fiancé. The pork was excellent, very tender and flavourful. The beef, on the other hand, was the worst I’ve had at a restaurant. Slightly undercooked (blue rather than rare) and extremely tough. I’m not fussy, but I didn’t eat it. In retrospect, I should have asked for it to be cooked a bit longer, but it was so tough I doubted it could be saved. I should also say that the food was pretty expensive, but with current energy prices, perhaps that’s to be expected. Overall, it the meal was pretty good but I left disappointed due to the quality...
