As one would expect, the coffee is nice. I am however disappointed at the recent decision not to make serviettes freely available (unless asled for) and tall coffees no longer come with a saucer. The spoons are laid on the tray. These trays are often seen on the floor under chairs and tables etc. Take a look at the state of the underside of a Costa tray and remember that the bottom of a tray like this may well have been in contact with the top of your tray that has a spoon laying on it. Read moreThe hot drinks were extremely hot (to the point where I'm questioning the calibration of their machines) and the floor and seating was extremely dirty and in disarray. The seats material was ripped and very dirty - clearly hasn't been cleaned in a very long time. Same goes for the entrance mat - very dirty and had extremely old gum on it.
If I didn't know this was a Costa I'd assume it was a run down cafe run by a couple just running out the clock until retirement, not a nationwide leading coffee chain....
Read moreThis Costa is located on the ground floor of the Mall, opposite the library. It offers all of Costa’s usual menu. However, the staff are lackadaisical and the service is poor.
They didn’t slice my toastie (which is standard across every Costa I’ve ever been to), out of sheer laziness. The coffee was too hot, so someone isn’t using the thermometer. And they didn’t put the hot toastie and other items into a paper bag for me to carry until I asked for it.
