Late review as I visited in June as my friend from Kent was staying with me and I had brought her to see the Ironbridge. We were lucky to get the last available table outside. I have Coeliac disease and I ordered a gluten free scone with jam and clotted cream. My friend had a normal fruit scone with jam and cream. I had low expectations to be honest - anyone with Coeliac disease will understand the disappointment of the food coming out and the gluten free offering being half the size of ordinary food, and tasting like cardboard. But my scone looked amazing. Well risen. I took a bite and waited for the let down, but again I was surprised. It was delicious. Fresh and moist and an absolute delight. I have been waiting for the chance to go back, and as my niece is visiting on Saturday I plan to take her there (for my own selfish reasons, of course). I am drooling at the thought of it....

When I came a young lady member of staff gave me the menu and said she'll be there to get the order. As I already made my breakfast so just decided to have a café. I wait for quite some time longer than usual and was about to change my mind to leave and go somewhere else. Because I didn't want to miss my regular café time so decided to go inside myself to order my café. When I went in there were three members of staff 1 man and two girls with no other customers nor they seemed busy doing something. I just kindly gave my order but wasn't happy at all about the service I received. A part from this unpleasant experience, location wise absolutely amazing place to have your regular café, meet-up etc, you lucky if you get it on time! I visited this place on my day to visit Ironbridge for the...

We have had a couple of trips to the Courtyard Cafe for lunch in the last year or so. A great ploughmans on offer with generous cheeses, some great teas and coffee on offer, both times we were really pleased to sit, enjoy a comfortable atmosphere and a hearty lunch. Plus, it's pretty decent value for eating out today.

What also really stands out is the service - friendly, welcoming, not pretentious, just spot on. And on one visit a young boy stacked his luxurious looking hot chocolate, followed by a wall of understandable tears. The staff (owner maybe?) made no qualms, a quick tidy up AND replacement hot chocolate arrived within minutes. If that's not a sign of the kind of place you ought go to and support I don't...

On holiday in Shropshire, on our way back home from Shrewsbury (separate review to come) we stopped at Ironbridge for a quick look see. We stopped at The Tea Emporium, for a quick coffee, but ended up having a brunch, followed by cake. The staff are very helpful, friendly and the service was excellent. More importantly the food was delicious, after several poor meals while staying in Shrewsbury, it was such a pleasant surprise. Located almost opposite the bridge, there is plenty of outdoor seating and being slightly off the road, not as noisy as some of the other cafés we had thought of trying. Overall 5 star experience, so would highly recommend.

Popped in for a pot of tea and a light breakfast. Staff very very friendly and helpful. The tea was fantastic, although they have somewhat reduced the teas available. From what I remember, you could go in and buy a weight of whichever tea you desired. I think you still can do, but like I say the teas available are much less in number. The breakfast was ok. I perhaps ordered something fancy for a bit of a change but the meat was ok at best. Still, I enjoyed the rest of it. There is inside and outside seating. Great old shop and good atmosphere. I bet it is a cracking place in the summer weather!
